On Wednesday, December 21st, the Academy announced the shortlist for 10 different categories for the 95th Academy Awards. This is standard procedure for 10 categories: Documentary Feature Film, Documentary Short Film, International Feature Film, Makeup and Hairstyling, Music (Original Score), Music (Original Song), Animated Short Film, Live Action Short Film, Sound, and Visual Effects.
This is a step to the formal Oscar nominations announcement which takes place on Tuesday, January 24, 2023. This is all leading up to the actual award ceremony on Sunday, March 12, 2023.
For any movie, the eligibility period for Academy Awards is that a feature film must have a qualifying theatrical release date between January 1, 2022, and December 31, 2022.
