Am I talking hyperbole? No, I am not.
Pitch Perfect (2012) is a very fun movie and it has ZERO rights to pull the emotional punches it does with its ending.
Are you telling me that you do not get goosebumps when Benji (Ben Platt) comes walking through the The Treblemakers and starts singing? And what a fucking friend Jesse (Skylar Astin) is. He coordinates this dance and directs it so Benji can sing I’ve Got The Magic In Me by B.o.B. Get it, because Benji likes to do magic??
Can we also raise the point that The Treblemakers give a fantastic performance? Their dancing is crisp. The singing is excellent. The songs are fun. Donald (Utkarsh Ambudkar) raps incredible well. The guts don’t need Bumper (Adam Devine) at all. They are top notch on their own.
Also what a way to prove yourself to your love interest by setting the precedent that she betting bring it because I am hot, I can sing and I am about to make you earn it. I can understand why everyone loves Jesse. He is the wholesome guy who also has the confidence to know when to stick up for himself, and for others. I will say it. Jesse is hot.
Do the Barden Bellas actually deserve the win? Are we sure that they do? Their dancing is not nearly as good. I am sorry, but all the mismatching outfits aren’t as crisp looking as the Treblemakers making Maroon.
If I were the judge, I would be docking the most points when Fat Amy (Rebel Wilson) starts singing. I like the character for most of the movie, but her singing here is not good. The alteration of the voice at the start and the hand gesture that I truly do not know the meaning of. What is that? Can someone educate me? Because I do not know.
Enough with the negativity.
Has Anna Kendrick ever looked hotter? I honestly don’t know. The black pants with the tucked in blue shirt. The heavy eye liner. The look of longing that Beca (with one “C”, who does she think she is) gives Jesse? Oh she is shooting Cupid’s Arrows into every audience member’s souls!
Do I have a man crush on Jesse? I may. HIs love for movies and their endings is like me, and if I were in his shoes in this movie I would probably propose to Beca on the spot.
When Beca starts singing “Don’t You, Forget About Me”, I start tearing up. I am not kidding. This is the truth. They linger on the song and cutting between Beca and Jesse is perfectly timed. You have Donald looking at Jesse next to him in the stands with the “you know you want to look”. When Jesse raises his hand, and then it cuts to Beca belting out a note…WHOOF!
Pitch Perfect might not be a picture perfect movie, but it does have a perfect ending. Emotions all around. Entertainment value seeping out its pores.

This is the shit I love. Chapter 18 of The Mandalorian is fantastic television and excellent Star Wars. Plenty of surprises, a bit of exposition, cool visuals and unexplained expansion of lore and stakes; all of these things make The Mines Of Mandalore a great episode of television. From the start of the episode we…
