There has been some news surrounding James Bond over the last couple days. It has been reported by multiple sources that fan favorite and thought-to-be front runner Idris Elba has pulled out be next the next 007. This comes on the heels of news that the runners of the Bond enterprise are looking for a younger reboot, aiming for an actor in the mid and lower 30s rather than someone more established in their 40s, etc.

According to Express UK (which I have no idea that you can trust) and Ross King:

“The latest rumor – and in some ways part of this is very much true – which is, basically, the Bond producers are looking for a younger Bond. Someone probably in their 30s. At the end of the day they want someone who will be Bond for the next three movies. For the franchise, they want someone who will carry it through the same way Daniel Craig did it.”

This sounds like they are looking for the long run and they will need someone who will buy into that visage. So goodbye Elba, Henry Cavill, and many other potential spy swooners.

For context, Daniel Craig was 38 when he appeared as James Bond in Casino Royale (2006).

Now is the time for speculation! Why not consider these fine fellows to be the next James Bond?

Here are my loose rules

  • Under 40 years old
  • Not too-too famous
  • Must have a certain je ne sais quoi

Sebastian Stan
-Has the spy vibe with Captain America: Winter Solider (2014), which many consider best made of Marvel movies.
-The women would swoon
-Very, very old, in terms of the my limits
-Is he too touched into the Marvel bank?

Taron Egerton
-I want it. Have wanted it since I saw him in Kingsman: The Secret Service (2014)
-Not afraid of a franchise or existing IP; did Robin Hood (2018) as well as playing Eggsy
-Does he have the calm dark side capability? We saw the flamboyant danger zone in Rocketman (2019). From what I hear, he is fantastic in Black Bird on AppleTV+ which makes me more confident.

Daniel Kaluuya
-He is the best actor going right now.
–A black James Bond would do wonders for a franchise that has been marred for lack of diversity before
-He is only in truly good movies that have some sort of award buzz. Would Bond qualify?
-I am having a hard time finding any negative aspects of this. I would want it all.

Michael B. Jordan
-He will immediately bring extra money and blockbuster potential with his fame
-Has the body, has the physical look and has the acting chops. He is almost too good on paper.
-Does he have other big projects lined up where he can’t commit.
-A black James Bond would do wonders for a franchise that has been marred for lack of diversity before
-MBJ is possibly to famous
-MBJ is already part of a franchise that is generating a ton of money; Creed (2015) & Creed II (2018).
-He tried to start a franchise with Without Remorse (2020), but don’t know if Tom Clancy franchise will continue.

Joe Alwyn
-Joe Alwyn looks like a man who could convince anyone to tell him anything just with a look
-Has not appeared in an action movie or franchise
-Is he more known for his relationship with Taylor Swift?

Lucas Hedges
-Lucas Hedges is so young that he would be moldable.
-Hedges is not too well known, so it would be a “oh, I kinda know that guy and how is he going to do?”
-He is incredibly young. Possibly to young?
-Has he played a super psychical role before? He is experienced in the drama, but what about the action?

Robert Pattinson
-The dude is an awesome actor.
-Experienced in action movie with Tenet (2020)
-He can pull off the charismatic charm.
– I think that Robert Pattinson would attract some exciting directors. Could you imagine a Safdie brothers Bond movie?
-Is he too famous for the role?
-Does he want to be attached. to another franchise? He is in The Batman (2022), Matt Reeves universe and was in the Twilight saga as well.

-He has the look. He has the je ne sais IDK
-That look kind of looks like Daniel Craig. A different but still similar face for the audience.
-He already has a project scheduled for 2027?? If he is already in on The Adventures of Tintin: Red Rackham’s Treasure that year, he must plan very far ahead so a long term deal would be tough.
-Has not been critically acclaimed in anything since Billy Elliot (2000).

Richard Madden
-Just look at this man. He is a handsome fucking devil.
-He has the drama card with Bodyguard. Loved that show.
-Is there too much of a Games Of Thrones shadow over his head?
-Can he have the dark side that Daniel Craig’s James Bond had?

-He was awesome in Reacher. He had the quiet tough guy mantra, which would be a different direction for James Bond
-He has the physical demeanor to pull off James Bond. He is a huge hunking guy, smaller than Craig. Would he be the biggest bond?
-Too American looking?
-Can he pull off the accent?
