The only reason I downloaded 15 Things You Didn’t Know About Bigfoot (#1 Will Blow Your Mind) was because the movie poster had me hooked.

I mean look how cool this poster is. This is something that college kids would hang in their dorms. The classic old school American comic vibes. If this was the cover of a book or a graphic novel, I would take it up and starting reading it.

This is part of marketing a movie, so massive props to the public relations team for hooking me in.

Alright, but what the fuck is the movie about? 15 Things You Didn’t Know About Bigfoot (#1 Will Blow Your Mind) is a story about a story-hunting but incredibly pessimistic reporter by the name of Brian Edmond. The man playing himself does have a cameraman and producer with him and together they venture to a Bigfoot convention in Georgia. This is neither character’s idea of a great time, but they stick their mind to the task at hand and meet up with Jeffrey Stephenson (played by himself), a Big Foot expert.

Once the trio is in the woods, all hell begins to break loose. The quirkiness of Stephenson is only part of the comedy that is sewed into this entire short mystery. Whether or not Bigfoot is real, it is Edmond’s job to report the story…but damn isn’t he cynical. He needs to be convinced that there is something in the woods and the he isn’t being led on a wild goose chase…which he is ironically really good at. 15 Things You Didn’t Know About Bigfoot (#1 Will Blow Your Mind) is a satirical comedy that pokes a lot of fun at journalism. It also sin’t shy about making fun of those who are obsessed with Sasquatch. No one really comes out of this movie unscathed.

The over-the-top characters and zany premise of the movie save it from being a subpar low budget monster movie. There is some clever comedy written into the movie but you won’t be laughing and frolicking the entire time. The rap investigative group is a bit much, but the Stephenson’s Eagle Scout bit is a worthy laughable counterpart. The banging of sticks, yelling like big foot, outlandish ending and eventual truth

15 Things You Didn’t Know About Bigfoot (#1 Will Blow Your Mind) was also know as The VICE Guide To Bigfoot, and the storytelling and camera work is very similar to that of some of their investigative pieces. It is made to look like that. I peeked at their videos every once in a while on YouTube, but can’t pretend to be an outlandish fan. But the handheld style, rather in your face reporters and breaking of the fourth wall type of journalism.

The story of VICE is interesting on its own and maybe merit for its own research one day. It ha had a rise and a fall, and if I am being honest, I have no idea where they are right now. What I do know is that this obscure, low budget, entertaining watch is streaming on Showtime. WIth a runtime under 90 minutes, 15 Things You Didn’t Know About Bigfoot (#1 Will Blow Your Mind) is worth a mindless watch. It is not going to blow anyone’s socks off, but if you enjoy mockumentaries then there is something worth exploring here.

Again, please. Do not expect the world. Expect some chuckles and a short brain melt.

Don’t go into 15 Things You Didn’t Know About Bigfoot (#1 Will Blow Your Mind) watching the trailer. Let it surprise you. I kind of wish I didn’t even reflect on it because I feel like I have spoken too much on it. I hope you enjoy it.

This is the shit I love. Chapter 18 of The Mandalorian is fantastic television and excellent Star Wars. Plenty of surprises, a bit of exposition, cool visuals and unexplained expansion of lore and stakes; all of these things make The Mines Of Mandalore a great episode of television.
