Holy shit, Fire Of Love (2022) is a remarkable movie. Fire Of Love is an Oscar nominated documentary that follows two of the most dare-deviling volcanic scientist to ever walk the earth. Using only archival footage (which is GORGEOUS!), director and writer Sara Dosa shines a light on the married french couple Katia and Maurice Kraftt. These two have a spark that never dwindles. These two love each other, but if you asked both, they would say they love volcanos more than anything else.
Spoiling Fire Of Love would ruin its magic. The documentary starts talking about its ending. It is one of the few moments where I understood why book lovers read the final line of a book before taking in the whole story.
Besides saying that the movie looks fantastic, is paced really well, and tells a full story, I have to say that the most surprising part of Fire Of Love is its voiceover. The voiceover work of Miranda July combined with the grainy footage from the Kraftts gives Fire Of Love a wild field trip like experience. This movie takes you back to middle school when you went to Nature’s Classroom or when your science teacher rolled in an old-school television and pressed play on a VHS. Do you remember how exciting it was when you didn’t have to hear the teacher talk and instead got to watch a movie in class? That is the same little boost of adrenaline that Fire Of Love gives you while watching it.
This is a personal guarantee that you will be gobsmacked numerous times with the visuals this movie shows you. I mean look at this.
I have recommended Fire Of Love to numerous people I have talked to. It has nature, culture, and real romance. This is about a couple that somehow matched up in every way shape and form. Two of the most passionate volcanic scientists in the world linked lives and managed to create a everlasting impact on the world and the way that people look and study volcanoes. Katie and Maurice are opposite personalities when it comes to risk and particular areas of study, but their Yin & Yang grants us an amazing opportunity to understand volcanoes and the beautiful danger that nature can provide.
Fire Of Love is streaming on Hulu. it is nominated for Best Documentary at the 95th Academy Awards.

This is the shit I love. Chapter 18 of The Mandalorian is fantastic television and excellent Star Wars. Plenty of surprises, a bit of exposition, cool visuals and unexplained expansion of lore and stakes; all of these things make The Mines Of Mandalore a great episode of television. From the start of the episode we…
