This is the first of many trailer catch ups for me. Over the last few weeks trailers were dropping left and right, all while I am helping Barstool Sports is prepping for 10+ live events during Super Bowl week. Not a lot going on. Nope. Plenty of time to ramble down my thoughts on miscellaneous trailers for TV shows and movies.

I am behind on the Star Wars lore because I have yet to watch Andor and I have only seen certain episodes and scenes of Star Wars: Rebels. I am here as a fan, not a diehard. I am approaching this season with pretty damn high expectations. They have not let me down yet. I don’t expect them to start now.

The opening of the trailer, with the western sounds behind underscoring it, give me shiver-me-timbers of an older western show but from the point of view of the Native Americans. They are scattered and tossed to the wind fighting for what they believe in but being overwhelmed by the opposing forces trying to colonize the wild west of the galaxy.

We see Grogu in the seat with sleeping Mando and then a reuniting between Mando and Greeg Karga, who seems to be thriving in his new leadership role.

Hey fans, remember this guy from the original trilogy?

My Native American culture sensors are continuing to go off when Mando is explaining to his young adopted sun that he must learn to navigate the galaxy so he can never be lost, much like how the Native Americans preached about being one with the land.

While some music is caressing out ears, we see Mando and Grogu flying through water, then cut off by a bit of fire and some Mandalorian armor being forged. This to remind the audience that Din Djarin is technically no longer a Mandalorian because he took off his helmet? It may be. He has to find a new tribe. And for that he is going to Mandalore.

After a Peli Motto “May The Force Be With You”, we shoot off into hyper space and BAM, we have what we need for the new season. The opening to the trailer sets the tone, reminds us of the landscape that this father-and-son are in…and now it is onto a new frontier. Mandalore.

Who the fuck is this guy? Am I supposed to know who this guy is? He is telling someone that there is something troublesome happening out there in the universe…is Moff Gideon still up to no good even after his unfortunate events at the end of season two?

Paul Sun-Hyung Lee playing Captain Carson Teva

Well, we are getting another flashback to “Execute Order 66”. It is a foundational memory for Grogu, so we are heading back to the moment where most of the Jedi were eradicated. This will not be the first time we have seen this…

There are also some snippets of an arial battle…but not in Mando’s new cruiser? What is happening here? Is he having ship trouble? I seriously think he needs a bit of ship insurance of intergalactic AAA because that man can not seem to keep hold of his own steering wheel.

What do we have here? The opposite of the Mos Eisley bar where R2-D2 wasn’t allowed into during “A New Hope”?

The final 20 seconds of the trailer feature a lot of Mandalorian helmet wearing warriors jumping out of ships and fighting in urban landscapes. There is the voice and visual of Babu Frik who I do not really care about at all so I am just going to skip over that.

We do end the trailer with Grogu forcing pushing some amphibian beast away, showing off the skills he learned from Luke. He is going to be a force wielding Mandalorian, and that is pretty damn cool.

I am not the first to say this, and I won’t be the last, but this is Pedro Pascal’s year. The Last Of Us had the second largest debut ever for an HBO show ever, and now he has Star Wars most consistent product coming out soon as well. Everything is turning up for Pascal.
