It is happening. It is finally happening this summer. Start up the sound track and get your adrenaline ready. Soon everyone in America is going to have the need, for speed.

The newest trailer for Top Gun: Maverick (2022) dropped this morning and if you have your headphones on blast, then you might need to check out a doctor. The planes are roaring and the engines are ripping.

From the start of the trailer we have some young hot shots arriving at base confused about what they are doing there. We get glimpses of Phoenix (Monica Barbaro), Hangman (Glen Powell) and Bradley “Rooster” Bradshaw (Miles Teller). The key question is who is going to be teaching these younglings a lesson? Who is worthy to take on the mantle of professor?

MAVERICK! Tom Cruise is back, though not to the happiness of Cyclone (Jon Hamm). He makes sure to point out that Maverick was not the top pick, but only Iceman’s (Val Kilmer) recommendation got Maverick in the door.

Guess what, Maverick ain’t not teacher. We see him showing up the young aviators and his braggadocios nature both in person and in the sky is getting glares from those in charge. How will the kids respond to someone relishing in showing them up? Well…for one not too kindly.

Goose, who was played by Anthony Edwards in the original Top Gun (1986), well he had a son, and that son is now under Maverick. Miles Teller plays Rooster, the upstart untrustworthy renegade (sound familiar, anyone?). In a face off with Maverick, he makes sure to dig the emotional dagger in deep saying that his father trusted him, and why would he make the same mistakes?

Trust, love, fantastic beach scenes and Jennifer Connelly back in the fold; all of these are fantastic things to see in this Top Gun: Maverick. The airplanes are rip-roaring and the visuals seem remarkable.

There will be heartbreak, there will be tension, but there will also be immense amounts of fun. This sound track is going to be blaring nonstop, and that is going to be fun as hell.

So who is making Top Gun: Maverick? It is directed by Joseph Kosinski, who previously worked with Cruise on Oblivion in 2013, and it is written by collection of people. Among those writers is Christopher McQuarrie, who has been with Tom Cruise every step of the way since 2014.

Top Gun: Maverick comes to theaters on May 27, 2022. This movie was meant to come out in 2020. Now, it is finally coming.
