Jessica Chastain is back! The two-time Academy Award winner nominee has not been in a salvageable movie since It Chapter 2 in 2019 and it looks like we are getting award-contending Chastain back.

The Eyes Of Tammy Faye, according to IMDB, is “an intimate look at the extraordinary rise, fall and redemption of televangelist Tammy Faye Bakker.” As a man who thinks religion is a bit of a hoax, this is going to be a fun watch. The trailer gives off vibes similar to I, Tonya (2017) where Margot Robbie was the center piece of an interesting biopic piece with a handful of strong personality performances to elevate the experience.

Alongside Chastain in The Eyes Of Tammy Faye are Andrew Garfield and Vincent D’Onofrio.

The most intriguing part of the trailer is when Tammy Faye, Jerry Falwell (Vincent D’Onofrio) and Jim Bakker (Andrew Garfield) are having a conversation by the pool and the classic argument of politics and religion sparks an umbrella of problems. If that is the tone of the movie and if D’Onofrio gets to play the part of a bullying lobbyist then count my cash.

The Eyes Of Tammy Faye is a classic rise and fall story (so it would appear), but the look of it is fascinating and the based off all the make-up and costume changes with the differing eras the story will take place over…I would not be surprised to see three Oscar Nominations for this movie in total; two being acting and one besting Costume Design and/or Makeup and Hairstyling.

The Eyes Of Tammy Faye releases September 17, 2021 in theaters.
