“1930’s Hollywood is reevaluated through the eyes of scathing social critic and alcoholic screenwriter Herman J. Mankiewicz as he races to finish the screenplay of Citizen Kane (1941).”

Director: David Fincher
Writers: Jack Fincher
Staring: Gary Oldman, Amanda Seyfried, Lily Collins, Charles Dance
Release Date: October 15, 2021
Streaming: Netflix

  • Good god the dialogue this movie. This screenplay is sharper than a knife in a five-star kitchen.
  • I don’t get all the hype for Amanda Seyfried; she was good, not great
  • This movie looks incredible. Like wow. Screw people who don’t like black & white.
  • The best two scenes in the movie are the birthday party banter at the start and then scene-stealing dinner soliloquy delivered by Mank that seared the movie industry and everyone involved
