Holy crap this trailer took me by storm. I saw it for the first time my latest trip to the theaters (stay tuned for my review of Scary Stories To Tell In The Dark) and immediately went home and watched it again.

Parasite is about an unemployed family that becomes intertwined with a wealthy and glamorous family before getting even more entangled in an unexpected incident. From director Joon-ho Bong, who I have learned is world renowned for his talents behind the camera.

The only film I’ve seen of his is Snowpiercer, which came out in 2013 and stared a ragged Chris Evans. I enjoyed Snowpiercer for its visual effects and the way Joon-ho Bong played with the unique environment, but the story left me a tad bit to be desired.

Back to Parasite, the quick two second shot of the little boy staring out the window with the sun rippling on him…phew that’s pretty. The second half of the trailer hints at how the story takes a drastic twist and leads the audience in a director no one is expecting…I mean color me titillated and where can I sign up to see it??

I’d be lying to you if I said I knew the cast…expect for Woo-sik Choi. He was in Train To Busan, a zombie horror movie from 2016 that was above the genre par.

Parasite’s trailer is great. It’s stylized. It sets the tone. You get the sense of visual style and you aren’t spoiled of the story itself.

Parasite releases in the USA on October 11, 2019.
