QUICK THOUGHTS ON THE EPISODE

Devinโ€™s Hometown
  • Devin goes first, which means this will be a good, safe hometown. Devin will be getting a rose. They will not start the episode with a downer on hometowns.
  • We head to Houston, and we are going on a run. Devin tells Jenn that this running group is important to him because his friend created it, and it helped him get up and move when he needed it.
    • Classic questions: How long was the run? What was the pace?
  • Devin sweats a lot, and my wife is scared by how much Jenn touches him.
  • The second part of their afternoon date is Jenn being introduced to Devinโ€™s dog.
    • This is me, not caring. I am sorry.
  • Devin is more nervous about Jenn meeting his family than I would have expected.
  • In telling their story together, Devin dwells on his stripping story longer than I expected.
  • The big thing about Devinโ€™s visit with his family is that he finally gets the courage to tell Jenn that he loves her.
    • Devinโ€™s mother is huge on this convincing.
    • Jenn tells Devin that she is falling โ€œso hardโ€ for him.
Jeremyโ€™s Hometown
  • Jeremy hails from Connecticut. Based on a snippet of audio, he often returns home from his New York City home.
  • The park that Jeremy calls one of his favorites in Fairfieldโ€ฆ.well, there are better parks. It does not have the most picturesque view.
    • Good callback by Jenn with the โ€œIs this where you kill me?โ€ line
  • Jeremy travels from Fairfield to Norwalk, so he heads South.
    • This is a bit strange timing-wise, because logistically, why would you start North, then drive South, to only return North to go to Jeremy’s parentโ€™s home?
    • While Jeremy and Jenn are in Norwalk, they visit the iconic store, Stew Leonardโ€™s.
      • Jenn is not lying when it is an experience the first time you go. Having a guide is remarkably helpful.
      • The editing in Stew Leonardโ€™s is funky. Having progressed through the store countless times, the order in which they arrived at the dancing stations was all wrong. There was chopping back and forth between the dairy and vegetable sections, which are worlds apart.
        • Itโ€™s okay, I understand itโ€™s needed, but it needs to be pointed out.
      • I wonder the last time Jeremy was in the Stewโ€™s because he says he had been there as a kid.
      • Itโ€™s great PR for Stewโ€™s.
        • Especially when Jeremy meets his aunt out in the wild.
          • This proves the idea of a small-town grocery store.
  • At Jeremyโ€™s house, things take a slight turn for the worse.
    • I canโ€™t believe Jeremy told them the story about how the first thing he said was that he had a big dick.
    • Jeremyโ€™s mom, Karen, came in with a negative attitude. Or should she say that she was pessimistic?
      • โ€œWhen she was named The Bachelorette, she described what she looks for in a guy, and I said to myself, that is not Jeremy.โ€
        • YIKES!
      • Karen then talks to Jenn, and the bachelorette does not get the words of encouragement she needs.
    • Jeremy also talks to his sister, who warns him that Jenn thinks he has some walls up.
      • Jeremy is taken VERY aback by this.
        • Perhaps it opened the door for when he opens up by saying that he is falling for Jenn.
          • Jenn DOES NOT reciprocate.
    • This entire home portion was both enlightening and not drama-filled.
      • Karen spoke well enough that no one could be frustrated at her. She didnโ€™t speak down to Jenn, but she spoke her mind.
Jonathonโ€™s Hometown
  • If Jenn ends up with Jonathon, it can be almost guaranteed that Jenn moves in with him, and they enter the pinnacle of Bachelor Nation.
  • The afternoon date activity is lacrosse. They both played college lacrosse.
    • There are cute uniforms. Itโ€™s the fairly standard form. Boring, if we are being honest.
  • Clarity is the name of the game for Jonathon when he returns home. He wants it bad.
    • Jonathanโ€™s sister-in-law brings up how she married into the family very quickly.
      • She and Jonathonโ€™s brother said โ€œI love youโ€ after three dates and they moved in together after like three weeks.
        • They have been married for four years.
    • Jonathonโ€™s older brother wants to be protective, but he isnโ€™t really good at it?
      • He isnโ€™t great at asking questions.
    • I chuckled when Jonathonโ€™s mom mentioned how Jenn didnโ€™t talk looks at all when describing her son.
      • This means that she knows that her son is a hottie.
    • Jonathon says that he is falling for Jenn, and she says that she is falling for him too.
      • The way he expresses love or talks about it is very awkward, which is very relatable. I think Jenn likes it too.
Marcusโ€™s Hometown
  • By the end of this hometown date, it is so clear that Jenn wants Marcus to explode with emotion, but the man just continues to dribble. He 100% has the right to go as slow as he wants, but damn is it killing Jenn.
  • There isnโ€™t really an afternoon portion of the date. Marcus just sat her down to discuss what to expect.
  • At the house we meet a bunch of Marcusโ€™s friends and his little sister Gabriella, who we heard about during his last one-on-one.
    • Lots of people are there, so it is more like a giant party. Credit to Marcus for having so many people locally that would come out for him.
    • The most touching conversation takes place between Jenn and Gabriella.
      • Jenn starts crying! She makes herself cry. She tells Gabriella that she is afraid of getting her heart broken. Is she back to being a contestant on the show??
        • This just proves that Jenn loves Marcus, and she is begging for it back.
    • Marcus admits on camera he is hesitant about proposing at the end. The man loves to think about everything.
      • This is where Gabriella comes in. She speaks to Marcus and tells him that he NEEDS to open up.
    • Macrus crumbles at the date’s end and says he is falling for Jenn. She reciprocates.
Last Bro Beer & Rose Ceremony
  • Who thought that last bar get-together would be a great content idea?
    • They didnโ€™t talk about anything other than the show. They didnโ€™t even finish a round.
    • Marcus realizes here that he is mentally at a different point than the other guys.
      • Devin doesnโ€™t help speaking so confidently, but he isnโ€™t doing any of it maliciouslyโ€”it’s just who he is.
  • Nothing to see here. It’s very predictable, even after ABC is stirring this stuff up with Marcus. Jeremy gets sent home, but he does so knowing he made Stew Leonardโ€™s proud.
Whatโ€™s Next?
  • They showed the full context of a rather shocking moment during the preview.
    • Jenn tells Marcus she loves him, and he replies that he is not in the same romantic spot.
      • I canโ€™t believe that they dropped this. BOOM. The most dramatic moment of Fantasy Suites Week is given to the audience in a five-second snippet.
      • This is just an initial gut reaction to the clip; Marcus is honest, and there is nothing you can fault him for. Jenn may be unhappy with it, but she harps on communication, so she canโ€™t get upset when Marcus is being his true self.
        • But letโ€™s be real, she still will be.

(MY) POWER RANKINGS

No. 3
Marcus

(Last Week 1)

Marcus drops down to number three because the man is so far in his own head. I would love for him to win this show and marry Jenn, be he is the least likely of the bunch now.

No. 2
Jonathon

(Last Week 3)

His hometown date was everything he wanted it to be. He got all the clarity he needed and then some. Jonathon has stayed above the fray the entire season. He has just been a fashionable pacesetter, but will he emerge the leader?

No. 1
Devin

(Last Week 2)

Devin is genuine with Jenn, and fuck it if it isn’t warming my heart. As much as Marcus and Jonathon have opened up and gained confidence, I can see it with Devin. The dude is loud and speaks his truth, and maybe I wouldn’t be best friends with him, but he still deserves tons of credit.

The Bachelorette airs on Monday nights on ABC, beginning at 8 PM EST. With that being said, there are two episodes next week with the Men-Tell-All on Tuesday.
