QUICK THOUGHTS ON THE EPISODE

  • First thing is first. Jenn is not telling the whole truth about her and Matthew. This man has been in her life for at least three years. They have dated, they have been intimate, and they have planned vacations with each other to exotic places. There is a comfortability between the two of them, and dare I say, I think Matthew comes off pretty damn well in his short appearance this episode. I think manages he be both humble and confident. He drops the love bomb, which sends Jenn back, but this man needs to spill the beans because Jenn does not. I think these two had been friends with benefits or something and Jenn doesn’t want to admit to it. He was the safety blanket. And for that, I feel for him and I am happy that he is making a move. This season has not been that great, and a lot of the men are easy to root against rather than for…so all-in-all, this is a good thing for the show even though it’s a card that shouldn’t need to be pulled.
  • The scoring of the rugby game seemed off.
  • Nothing from Spencer or Dylan this episode.
  • Jenn is being tossed into a lot of “tall” tasks with her fear of heights.
  • Not having a rose ceremony this episode stinks.
  • We are only on episode four? It is not good that I am feeling that way about this. Hopefully the infusion of Matthew brings something.
  • Does Matthew seem very short? We have a short king?
  • Jonathon for next Bachelor? I don’t think I hate that idea right now.
  • Sam N. at the Men-Tell-All is going to apologize and its going to be so awkward.
  • Who the hell programmed Sam N.’s attitude change? Did someone just turn the dial on his back from zero to 11? This is the problem man; you laid in the background for so long and that is who you really are. People saw that. That means when you turn it up, people are going to take notice.
  • Sam N. not giving up the seat for Marcus was so disrespectful.
  • Jesse Palmer got a lot more facetime this episode. Probably the most since the premiere? He almost cracked during the rugby match, but he did well with the standup inside the hotel waiting for Matthew.

(MY) POWER RANKINGS

No. 12
Thomas N.

(Last Week 9)

When he pulled Sam N. to the side, I immediately said he was going to the bottom of my power rankings. What an absolute attention seeking monster. Thomas N. has nothing going for himself personally, or with him and Jenn.

No. 11
Sam M.

(Last Week 12)

Still a hot piece of shit. Has he asked Jenn a question at all over the past four weeks? We learned he was formally engaged, and that once the ring on the finger it went all bad. I would like to know why? He didn’t handle the sky tower portion of the one-on-one date and Devin still lives in his head like a diseased mental tape worm.

No. 10
Jeremy

(Last Week 7)

He has absolutely zero shot at winning Jenn’s heart and he is easily the most likely to go home at the next rose ceremony.

No. 9
Dylan

(Last Week 8)

Dylan was a big-time vanisher this week. Not much screentime at all. Was basically replaced by John this episode and it is worth wondering if anyone really noticed.

No. 8
John

(Last Week 11)

This is the most we heard John talk the entire episode. He was part of the rugby scoring discrepancy I believe was in the game, but still he rocked it. There still is not much to go on, but the fact there is something now means he isn’t totally bottom of the barrel.

No. 7
Matthew

(Last Week N/A)

Going to be honest, I like Matthew. He came in disheveled but still looking cute. He was thrown into the fire. He spoke fairly well for himself. And Jenn is CLEARLY lying about their relationship to an extent. This is far more than dated a few years ago. YOU WERE GOING TO WEDDINGS IN CUBA TOGETHER. JENN, SPILL THE DETAILS. OR MATTHEW, EVEN BETTER.

No. 6
Austin

(Last Week 6)

We got some Austin screentime this time around, and I was a bit disappointed. The man was doing his best trying to do one-hand catches during Rugby warmups rather than fundamentals. Tsk tsk.

No. 5
Spencer

(Last Week 4)

After the one-on-one date last week, this was the week for Spencer to take a step back. I did notice that he was the last to arrive during the sprint to Jenn prior to the Rugby date portion.

No. 4
Grant

(Last Week 5)

The man has charisma, and you can tell he has been an athlete his entire life. The way he talks amongst men is like a locker room. He was able to speak well on the Sam N. arrogance moment and his time with Jenn never seems forced. Also he had some high-stepping in Rugby.

No. 3
Jonathon

(Last Week 2)

Jonathon missed the opportunity for a great joke with the lacrosse sticks and Jenn. He could have been really sensual and said he didn’t want to pull out his defense stick…or something along those lines. With that being said, Jonathon tried to talk to Sam N. but that blew up. He still looked outstanding though.

No. 2
Devin

(Last Week 3)

For a cultural one-on-one date (that are often very boring), Devin brough the most out of it. He is not afraid to speak in front of a group and that bode well. He opened up quite a bit, and there was a genuine connection between Jenn regarding their mothers. I mean it went I say that Devin has the best relationship with Jenn thus far.

No. 1
Marcus

(Last Week 1)

This man has layers. He is like Shrek. I actually love the fact that he said he needed more time to open up with Jenn. He was legit emotional when he got the rose. I love how he didn’t come out of the game when he got hurt. This dude also showed us what it was like to deal with Jenn and heights and Sam M. should have studied up.

We said goodbye to Sam N. We may have said hello to Matthew. But Sam N. gets the sendoff, and I do think that we will be seeing him in paradise. He has the ability for a rebrand, or he can fall flat on his face like that one very awkward man on Paradise. I think that his name was Romeo? He tried so hard with so many, and it was a disaster every single time. That is what I think Sam N. can be on Bachelor In Paradise.

The Bachelorette airs on Monday nights on ABC, beginning at 8 PM EST.
