Week four brings us some interesting results.

Michael Kenney, who won his first week 9-2 against DiMaio, has now lost three in a row. He has one only one category in two of those three losses. It was Michaud who defeated Kenney this week, and after getting crushed 10-1-0 in week three, Michaud was able to even it out with a 10-1-0 win this week.

Billy Drakeley has won two games in a row after a pair of close losses to begin the season. This week, Billy handed Bove his first loss of the season. The two game winning streak is currently the longest for anyone.

Vaghi has the weirdest list of results thus far; win, tie, loss, win. This week Vaghi took down DiMaio.

I won my matchup…that is shocking in itself.

I have added a new column to the player report card snapshots. It is all the way to the right, and it is where that person ranked in the standings each week. In theory this will allow people to see who are making runs to improve their playoff positioning. Who is constantly jockeying for position, and who is normally steadfast in their placement. Just something more to compare. Not too much work for me and I figure it’d be cool to look back on at the end of the year if someone had a massive push or if someone had a massive collapse.

If anyone has any thoughts, comments, concerns or ideas, please feel free to let me know.

WEEK FOUR SCOREBOARD

  • Stanko earned his first win of the season against Huntley, 8-3-0.
    • Huntley’s team went 3-for-39 on April 20th. YIKES.
    • Oniel Cruz went 2-for-21, which is a tough sell. I also picked up Jose Siri because of my IL problems and he went 0-for-15.
    • This was really a matchup of piss poor hitting teams.
  • Eric moved into first place with a 8-3-0 win over Jack List.
    • Having the closer for arguably the best team in baseball is probably a smart move. Jack has Raisel Iglesias of the Atlanta Braves and he had three saves this week.
      • It was one of the three categories he won.
    • No pitcher on Eric’s team had double-digit strikeouts.
      • Still with that being said, Eric won the majority of the pitching categories.
    • Shohei Ohtani went 10-for-21 with six runs scored, a home run, three RBI, five walks, and three stolen bases.
      • This is a cheat code for Eric.
  • Michaud bounces back with a big 10-1-0 win over Michael Kenney.
    • Only 10 hitters had stats for Kenney’s team.
      • He has two hitters on the IL, and no other bench players. He also has three pitchers on the IL. Brutal.
      • One of Kenney’s hitters is Yankee Anthony Volpe, who went 2-for-25 this week.
        • I wish I could say I am disappointed and upset for Mike, but I am not.
    • Ketel Marte and Trea Turners combined for 25 hits for Michaud. Pretty solid.
      • Trea Turner scored 10 runs on his own.
    • The closest category was ERA, and Kenney may have gotten fucked on Sunday with his three pitchers going for a 6.35 clip over 5.2 innings while Michaud had a 3.38 ERA with eight innings.
  • Billy takes down Bove, 7-4-0, for his second straight win.
    • Billy’s pitching was just lights out this week.
      • Ranger Suarez pulling a Tanner Hauck going nine shutout innings is a great start.
        • Zack Wheeler tossing 7.1 shutout will help too.
      • And how about Kutter Fucking Crawford!!!???
    • Bove just got beaten down by a tough matchup this week, otherwise his team performed pretty admirably.
      • Perhaps Bove can look at Evan Carter of Texas for going 3-for-22 and Michael Conforto for going 2-for-11.
        • Bove did only lose the hitting category by four hits.
          • And Billy left the door open too, going just 8-for-40 on Sunday, but Bove went 7-for-29. Significantly less at-bats.
  • Vaghi emerged victorious over DiMaio, 7-4-0
    • DiMaio came one home run shy of tying the category on Sunday. 4-7-0 looks different from 4-6-1.
      • Home runs was the only hitting category that was close.
        • Somehow DiMaio didn’t win the home run category despite having 19 more hits.
    • How about Vaghi’s pitchers on Sunday just throwing down the gauntlet and closing down the week?
      • George Kirby and Sonny Cray combined for 11.1 innings and 19 strikeouts. They combined to allow two earned runs total.
    • DiMaio stole the saves category on Sunday with Robert Saurez preserving a win.

WEEK FOUR STATISTICS DEEP DIVE

PDF/GOOGLE SHEET LINK (Best Viewing Option)

Overall Summary

  • Billy’s average rank in the average statistical categories (ASC) has improved every week. Started out the season at 6.455 but this week led everyone with a 3.091.
    • Billy led the way in five different statistical categories: Hits, Wins, Saves, ERA, WHIP
  • Bove was led down by his arms this week. After ranking top four in ERA and WHIP each of the first three weeks, his team ranked ninth and 10th in those respective categories this week.
  • DiMaio’s team just hits the ball. His team has ranked top two in hitting each of the first four weeks and top four in RBI and OBP as well.
  • Huntley’s offense let him down big-time this week. His team ranked last or second to last in hits, runs, home runs, RBI and OBP.
    • Stolen bases was the only category where he ranked at least eighth, and it’s the only hitting category he has yet to win this season.
  • Michael Kenney was the category leader in five hitting categories in week one. Since that time, he has ranked in the top half of a hitting category six times.
  • List is currently in last place, but his ASC rank is 5.500 which is actually sixth, so he has been getting a bit unlucky this far this season.
    • He is winless in the home runs and the runs batted in categories this season.
  • Stanko is still winless in the WHIP and saves category, and none of the weeks have been particularly close.
  • Vaghi’s team’s hitting capability seems to be feast or famine.  He ranks eighth or worst 10 times, but also has eight times where he has ranked fourth or better in a category.
  • Bove, List and Stanko all set a new season-best with 10 stolen bases this week.
  • Huntley’s team set two season-worsts this week with 12 runs batted in and a 0.2560 on base percentage.
    • He also tied a season-worst with two home runs.
  • Rare to see the five winners this week rank one through five in the wins category.
  • Bove losing this week despite ranking top half in six hitting categories, and first in three…damn well that’s just brutal luck.
  • There is only one category where someone has won every single week. Credit to Billy Drakeley who is still a perfect 4-0 when it comes to strikeouts.
    • He is the leader in the category for the year, so this does pan out.

WEEK FIVE MATCHUPS

OVERALL STANDINGS

  • I would consider a decisive win anything that is by five games or more, is that fair?
    • I just bring this up because Michaud lost 1-10-0 in week three and he dropped from second in the standings to eighth. He then won this week, 10-1-0 and moved up to fifth place.
  • Bove has been inside the top three of the standings all week.
    • Eric has been ranked inside the top four all week.
  • DiMaio was in seventh place after the first two weeks but has elevated himself to top four right now.
  • Michael Kenney was in first place after week one, and now he is in last. It’s okay, it’s a long season.

TRANSACTION COUNTER

  • For those curious, the activate column tabulates the number of times a player is moved from the bench to the active roster. I was curious so figured someone else would be.
    • I have the most amount of changes in terms of active players, but I’ve had to dance having up to six players on the IL at the same time on my roster (while Rafael Devers was DTD for a week). It’s been awful.
    • Michael Kenney and Michaud have made the least amount of daily roster moves.
  • Eric leads the league acquiring 24 players and dropping 21. Just peppering the waiver wire.
  • No trades thus far. DiMaio sent me one, but I learned last year to not deal with the devil, so I turned it down. Still too early to panic.
