QUICK THOUGHTS ON THE EPISODE

RACHEL
  • I am remarkably unexcited about looking into Rachelโ€™s date because, whatโ€™s the point?
  • The first date shown shows the first meeting with a Golden Bachelor contestant.
    • This is going to be a thing this episode, and I personally donโ€™t love it. Thatโ€™s a problem for me, so I will deal with that.
      • There is a fair point that its good to have another woman talk to these three finalists because it’s easier to relate. I get it. I would rather be friends so we can have a more natural conversation.
    • Susan is the first lady we meet and she is a bucket of energy. She is pouring it over Rachel.
    • Rachel confesses that she is in love with Rachel.
    • We learn that the last two men that Rachel has dated have both cheated on her.
      • 1.) This stinks for her, I am sorry.
      • 2.) Two people in a row is really bad luck.
      • 3.) Trauma surrounds all three of these finalists.
        • Can we just get a normal girl with normal problems!
    • Susan is pumping Rachel up big-time. This is a pump up speech.
  • The daytime date portion of Rachel and Joeyโ€™s date is not your normal affair.
    • They travel to a cenote, which Joey expertly explains as an โ€œunderground caveโ€ situation.
      • There are levels to jump off of, which is always symbolic of a leap of faith.
        • This is naturally what Rachel needs to do in order to share her true feelings with Joey.
    • This is also a great time to show off Joeyโ€™s abs. Naturally.
    • So Joey and Rachel are jumping off of these levels, and then RACHEL BREAKS HER FUCKING JAW???
      • Okay, well we learn that she didnโ€™t actually break her jaw, but it really appears like she did.
        • She is unable to open it. She has pain when tries to.
          • Credit to Joey for noticing that something was up with Rachel right away.
      • If I was a dirty, nasty, bad boy, I would say Rachelโ€™s jaw will be sore laterโ€ฆfor other reasonsโ€ฆin the fantasy suite.
    • Rachel and Joey have to go to the hospital to get some X-rays.
      • Oh what a lovely date this is!
        • This reminded me of when I had cellulitis and Emma sat by me in the hospital for hours while I was cooped up.
      • I have questions about how the producers and show runners scout out medical facilities?
      • This would be a good bonding experience. Hell, it is something to for sure laugh about if you can poke fun at it.
        • However, Rachel is probably under enough stress to not see this as a comedic moment in their relationship.
  • We enter the night portion of the date.
    • Rachel admits that she feels like she is playing catchup with the other girls.
      • This is true.
    • This conversation does not have a ton of substance to it.
    • We do see Rachel cry again.
      • We have seen her cry more in the last two weeks than we did in all the weeks earlier.
  • Rachel accepts the overnight date.
    • As to be expected.
    • The morning after is a relatively normal affair. Nothing crazy. Breakfast is pre-made.
    • I guess during this one-on-one time without cameras, Rachel told Joey about how she was feeling about him.
KELSEY
  • FUCK YOU LESLIE!
    • Kesley gets visited by Leslie before going out on her date with Joey. This is meant to be connecting and uplifting conversation.
      • Well, it turns out to be one of those things.
    • Leslie can connect with Kelsey on the fact that both of their mothers died at a very young age and they had to live through that.ย
    • Leslie tells Kelsey to be โ€œopenโ€ and โ€œorganicโ€, but she also tells Kesley to keep the truth in the back of her mind.
      • The truth being that while Kesley feels confident now, she has to understand that there are still other women who Joey may have unbelievable feelings for.
        • These words are not untrue, but they are not what Kelsey needed to hear.
          • Kelsey has been living in loving bliss and hasnโ€™t been all too stressed about Rachel and Daisy. This conversation with Leslie sewed more doubt than it did help.
  • In terms of the actual date, Kelsey and Joey go on a very pretty boat and just start galavanting with one another and looking longingly into each otherโ€™s eyes.
    • Joey says that he needs more clarity on this date, but all he should need to do is look at her. She is giving him googly eyes. There was a moment on the boat where she was about to blurt out โ€œI LOVE YOUโ€ so loud.
    • The line โ€œtame the maneโ€ was very good by Joey.
    • There is a little bit of SCUBA divingย
  • Dinner portion of the date brings the heavy hitting topics.
    • Kelsey admits that Leslie rattled her and thank god she told Joey because Leslie really fucked up her head.
      • We will see even more later.
    • Kelsey opens up about her feelings, and Joey does too!
      • Joey dops the bombshell: โ€œIโ€™m falling in love with you fullyโ€ฆโ€
        • OH HELL YES, JOEY!
          • He is not lying when he says this. He means this.
  • These two are obviously doing it overnight.
    • Kesley and Joey are the only couple that I am fairly confident had sexual intercourse. I know, phrasing.
    • The morning after is by far the cutest of the bunch.
      • They are actually making breakfast together.
        • It is so cute how Joey doesnโ€™t know how to make eggs. They both struggle to make bacon. This is a real morning of them being cute and happy to be around one-another.
          • Itโ€™s lovely.
  • There is one shot of butterflies that was remarkably on the nose.
  • Alright, letโ€™s get to the note.
    • Based on the security footage, it took her two hours to write โ€œWe Need To Talk?โ€
      • Really. Thatโ€™s what it came to be? There are time stamps on those security cameras. Are we not supposed to believe them?
    • This is all Leslieโ€™s fault.
    • Kelsey says that there is something she must talk to Joey about, but what the hell could it be?
      • Leslie has sent Kelsey into a spiral. Itโ€™s brutal.
    • This better not be an ultimatum.
DAISY
  • Daisy kicks off her time this episode meeting up with Sandra, another Golden bachelor veteran.
    • I like Sandra most of all the Golden Bachelor cameos on this episode. Something about her vibe warms the soul.
    • I guess Sandra had lipstick on her teeth? I did not notice that.
    • It is rather amusing that Sandra tells Daisy to give a little bit of sexual oomph because โ€œmen like that kind of thingโ€.
      • Well okay, then. Owooga!
      • Perhaps Daisy took this to heart because she looks outstanding in her athleisure wear.
  • During the day portion of this date there is an ATV riding activity.
    • I donโ€™t like these dates. Sorry, not a lot of room for talking or bonding.
    • Eventually Joey and Daisy park the ATVโ€ฆand there is a perfectly placed bench with no mud or track marks on it at all.
      • There is a freaking rug in the middle of a forest floor. Come on, just let them put their feet on normal ground during this portion.
    • I am going to be honest, the talking potion bit on this bench is a little awkward. The conversation does not flow well.
    • The most important thing is that Joey opens up about his past relationships, which is perhaps the first time on this show it has happened?
      • Daisy connects on the fact that her past relationships shut her down emotionally.
      • Joey is opening up about insecurities he has and again telling the audience and his potential wife that he is not the cool-all-the-time guy. He has moments were he struggles with insecurities and doesnโ€™t always know the right thing to say.
    • There is a remarkably steamy shower makeout sequence. Both Daisy and Joey look great, and honestly itโ€™s surprising how steamy it actually is.
  • The dinner portion of the date has one remarkably important aspect to it.
    • Joey, perhaps to his own future detriment, has officially said that he is falling in love with two women. Both Daisy and Kelsey get this treatment.
      • Notably, Rachel does not.
  • The morning after, Joey and Daisy are very cute.
    • They have this awkward cuteness. I do think that they could work, but perhaps not for TV. They may be a real life couple where friends are like โ€œwell thatโ€™s odd, but that works.โ€
      • Itโ€™s hard to convey that to a normal audience.
  • I do think that Daisyโ€™s date gets a bit upstaged by the upheaval happening in Kesleyโ€™s head. It is intercut throughout this date.
    • That perhaps was a wise strategic choice because while Daisyโ€™s date wasnโ€™t catastrophic, it was not the most exciting.
OVERALL THOUGHTS
  • Personally, I thought this episode was a bit of a bore.
    • With Rachel being part of the final three, you could have ignored her date completely. You could have ignored the first 20-30 minutes of the episode.
      • The fact is that Joey says he is falling in love with Kesley and Daisy, but not Rachel.
        • Rachel watching this at home has to be a bit bummed out.
          • It is one of those instances where she has done nothing wrong but it just isnโ€™t working out and thatโ€™s what makes love so hard.
    • Also, the fact that we got teased for the note conversation and then it never happenedโ€ฆ.I mean that is brutal. That was going to be all the juice and we were still left with the full orange.
    • I do not personally enjoy all the Golden Bachelor ladies coming back.
      • I did not watch that show, so I have no connection to these women.
      • Why not have friends of the ladies talk with them and flesh out their feelings?
        • Do we really think that Rachel, Daisy and Kelsey are going to open up fully to women they donโ€™t know very well?
          • And the whole Leslie situation is crazy! She messed with Kelseyโ€™s brain, badly!
  • Yellow is the color of the season.
  • With no rose ceremony, there is no change in the power rankings.

(MY) POWER RANKINGS

No. 3
Rachel

(Last Week 3)

Watching this episode back had to be tough for Rachel. Very rough. She is the only one not to get a “I’m Falling For You” and she almost broke her jaw. Overall, just a tough week for Rachel. She has done nothing wrong, but her and Joey just aren’t a match together.

No. 2
Daisy

(Last Week 2)

Daisy and Joey’s relationship does not seem as easy as the one Kelsey has with him. I think this is leading to Daisy potentially being the next Bachelorette, which at this point, makes me feel a little conflicted.

No. 1
Kelsey A.

(Last Week 1)

The clear front-runner. Hands down. Kelsey likes Joey the most of the three women left and she has a beautiful way of showing it. Her eyes and smile light up.

The Bachelor airs on Monday nights on ABC, beginning at 8 PM EST.
