Back At The REEEEEEM Fantasy Football Week 10 Recap
PREAMBLE
We officially can start the playoff talk because Steve Kultzow has clinched a playoff spot. Somehow, someway, Mr. Kultzow has won nine straight matchups and ensured himself a chance to engrave his name on the RJR Back At The Reeeeeem Fantasy Football Trophy.
Speaking of which Tom, does this trophy still exist? Is it still alive? How dusty is it?
Buzzi started off the season red hot but has stumped a bit and is now in need of a CPR effort to revive his postseason hopes. Jimmy and I were absolutely atrocious (and maybe still are), but we are fighting for respect and doing our best to not sit in the basement at the end of the season. Ronan has won two in a row to put himself third on the pedestal, but he still sits behind McGinnity who bounced back after a master
Let’s get going.
WEEK 10 SCOREBOARD
Three wins in a row for Mr. Stanko. I am happy for it. My team is fighting. We don;t believe in tanking. Jahmyr Gibbs had an outstanding first half and Rachaad White managed a long touchdown run to get him started. Would you have guessed that White is ranked 11th among all running backs this year? He has double-digit points each of the last four weeks.
Tommy Simonโs top scorer on his roster was DโOnta Foreman in Chicago. His 16.2 points was worse than four players on his bench. T-Siโs bench outscored his playing roster, and that is always tough to see. Also who the fuck is Trey McBride? I donโt know this Arizona tight end.
Jimmy Simon had a roller coaster ride with Joe Burrow at QB, but his fourth quarter really paid off well. T.J. Hockenson was getting thrown around the field like a rag doll (if you saw the game, you know) yet he ended up with 24.9 points. And hell, David Montgomery did his thing in his first game back from the IR.
Josh Allen, I just want to talk about you in this recap. Are you okay? Are things okay at home? Somehow he is still the number one quarterback in fantasy. Proves fantasy football is not real football. Najee Harris has had a good bounce back over the last couple weeks. 31.7 points at home against Tennessee and Green Bay.
Hell of a matchup between these two. Great competition. You love to see it. McLaughlin, unfortunately you came up short, but you put your best foot forward. Ronan, this win without having Travis Kelce, DโAndre Swift or the Eagles defense is remarkably resilient. Hell of an effort. Also drafting (I think) Kyler Murray seemed to work.
McLaughlin went with the sexy route and played Taysom Hill in the tight end slot. He played him instead of George Kittle. Tatum scored 3.3 pointsโฆand Kittle scored 19.1. A rather large differenceโฆone that could have swung the entire matchup. But bygones be bygonesโฆthis surely wonโt haunt any dreams.
It came down to Monday nightโฆand Steveโs propensity for luck. Or Loboโs unluckiness. Javonte Williams ran all over the Buffalo Bills on Monday night, outperforming Courtland Sutton and the outstanding touchdown he scored on Loboโs behalf.ย But the biggest hero is Jason Myers, the Seattle kicker with a team-high 21.0 points against Washington.
Derek Carr did not complete the game for the New Orleans Saints, and will he ever complete another one? Also, Jahan Dotson led the Commanders in targets against Seattle, yet he didnโt have a single catch. Also the 49ers defense was the leading scorer Lobo. Really just a strange matchup.
McGinnity put forth a monster performance. The best of the week. Justin Herbert did his thing in the shoutout against Detroit where Amon-Ra St. Brown also scored 26.5 points. Also McGinnity has to be happy that Kenneth Walker III returned to form with 19.2 points after just 9.9 combined over the last two weeks.
Mike Ritz played the Will Levis card and it did not turn out well. On his bench is Geno Smith who scored 24.08 points. To be fair, he only had 2.68 points last week, so the move makes sense. Maybe Ritz could have gotten extra points for the manliness of manly YAC runs by David Nijoku against the Ravens.
Tommy Simon with the dubious distinction of having more points on his bench than his roster. He had 83.32 points on his playable roster and 98.34 on his bench.
All five winning teams this week performed best to their projected point total.
Steve finished with the sixth most points scored but still got a win.
This marks the fourth this this year he has won a matchup without a top-five score.
Steveโs top scorer was Jason Myersโฆthe kicker for the Seattle Seahawks.
Steve made sure to point out that he is a former New York Jet Pro Bowler.
McLaughlin deals with the unlucky weight of having the fourth most points scored but still taking a loss.
Tough for Ritz to lose this week despite having the highest scorer of the week (Keenan Allen with 35.0 Points).
Steve has won nine matches in a row. He has the longest winning streak (easily) and Buzzi has suffered three straight losses to claim that tough distinction.
Jimmy scored the most points of the week, which makes this the first week since week five that he finished in the top half.
This is also the first week he has finished above his projected point value.
McGinnityโs 5.20 bench points is the fewest bench points by anyone this season.
Steveโs 21.0 kicker points is the most amount of kicker points by anyone this season.

WEEK 11 MATCHUPS
We have a pair of teams that need victories. Both Tom and I are on the outside looking in when it comes to the playoff picture. I am in a must-win scenario. One loss and I am officially looking forward to next season. McLaughlin has scored the most points in the league, but they have come in bunches. He can get into a tiebreaker scenario and be okay. I want to spoil that.
First matchup of the season.
Much like McLaughlin and I, Lobo and Buzzi are in the same sort of must-win scenario. This is the second of three potentially nail in the coffin matches. Buzzi still ranks best when it comes to average ranking of full-team points, quarterback points and highest scoring players. Lobo doesnโt lead in any categories, but he isnโt riding a three game losing streak.
Matthew Buzzi won against Lobo 129.76 to 97.3 in week two of the regular season. Buzzi had a season-best 237.58 points combined team points in week two.
Jimmy Simon rising up from the ashes! Two straight wins for the younger Simon and his playoff hopes are staying alive. Barely. They are in the ICU. Ritz is going off a throbbing from McGinnity, but I think he will trade the loss for advice that will be helpful to him down the road from a veteran father figure like McGinnity. If Jimmy loses this then he is eliminated.
Michael Ritz absolutely destroyed Jimmy back in week three, 175.14 to 93.44. Ritz had a season-best 100.66 points from wide receivers in week three.
Steve Kultzow is in the playoffs. Is he going to rest players to keep them healthy? Haha, I am hilarious. Tommy doesnโt want to fall into the pool of sub .500 mediocrity, but he is in jeopardy here going up against the top dawg. Also, as of today, this would be a playoff preview.
Steve Kultzow began his nine game winning streak against Tommy back in week two with a 120.02 to 111.98 victory.
This is an exciting matchup. I am excited for this one. Ronan is third in the standings and has a chance to take over the second place spot here with a resounding win. McGinnity has a really underrated defensive scoring streak; He has had a top-four output each of the last five weeks. Meanwhile Ronan has had his wide receivers stockpiling points the past three weeks.
We have a rematch from arguably the best match of the year. McGinnity took down Ronan in week three 154.1 to 152.46. Ronan had a season-best 64.70 points from running backs in week three.
TEAMS ON A BYE: Atlanta Falcons, New Orleans Saints, New England Patriots, Indianapolis Colts
STANDINGS
Steve has clinched a playoff spot. The first to do so. It would appear that McGinnity and Ronan and in good shape to see the post season, but after that it is a bit of a shit show.
I am one game out of the playoffs…but I need to climb over EVERYONE because I have the fewest points scored and that is the tie-breaker.
It was interesting that week nine was a sandwich effect; the top of the standings won and the bottom of the standings won. The middle people fighting for position all lost.
The only change in the standings this week is that Ronan vaults into third place and Tommy falls down into fourth place.
