The first 15 seconds of this trailer are underwater, breathtaking beautiful and filled with creatures we have never seen before. Cut to Kiri (Sigourney Weaver) smiling from ear-to-ear in wonder. That is what director, writer and head honcho James Cameron wants. He wants to elicit the same euphoria and instinctive smile of wonder for his audiences.
So what do we gather from the remainder of the second Avatar: The Way Of Water (2022) trailer?
James Cameron is trying to knock everyone’s socks off with the visuals. This was a known thing, but this trailer is another notch on his belt in terms of building hype. You are going to see something different in The Way Of Water that you have never seen before. It has been 13 movies since Avatar broke the box office, and based of purely the visuals of The Way Of Water, it has a chance to get in the same area of its predecessor.
War is coming to the Na’Vi, and it would appear like Sully (Sam Worthington) and his tribe are attempting to get help from other Na’vi in their fight to keep their planet safe. These fellow blue creatures want nothing to do with the violence to come, but is seemingly undeniable that once an arrow is flung, a hailstorm of problems will affect everyone. The Way Of Water Connects All Things…for better or worse.
Who or what do we think Kiri, the child of Sully and Neytiri (Zoe Saldana), is talking about when she says that she can hear her heartbeat? When she is so close?
I think she is just talking about the heart of Pandora. I think it is some spiritual thing. It may be the east answer, but we aren’t here for the plot, are we?
We get glimpses of Stephen Lang back as Miles Quaritch. We see a snippet of Kate Winslet’s character Ronal. We see the crushing of a human skull, so humanity is the worst again. Tell us something we didn’t know. There is the tail connecting with nature leading to climatic colors…this part I still don’t love. This is still really weird.
Am I excited for Avatar: The Way Of Water? Yes. I am. I am not jumping off the rooftops trying to parachute into the first seats, but will be watching it eventually.
Avatar 2: The Way Of Water is expected in theaters on December 16, 2022. This is the second trailer, and I would expect at least one more before the movie comes out.

There is a lot happening in Mission: Impossible – Dead Reckoning. One could argue that there is too much going on.
Much maligned as the worst of the Mission: Impossible franchise, Mission: Impossible II doesn’t do itself any favors upon rewatch.
