“In town for a job interview, a young woman arrives at her Airbnb late at night only to find that her rental has been mistakenly double-booked and a strange man is already staying there. Against her better judgement, she decides to stay the night anyway, but soon discovers that there is much more to be afraid of in the house than the other house guest.”

I am all about a good physiological horror movie! I also a trailer that is vaguer than my career aspirations. Let’s go!!
Barbarian (2022) is a haunted house premise twisted on its head. A young woman played by Georgina Campbell (her character is unnamed) is ready to rest at her AirBNB before a job interview the next day. Unfortunately for her, a young man played by Bill Skarsgård (again character unnamed) is there. A double-booking is never good. It is even worse when there is a hidden room in the basement that appears to be a mental or physical torture chamber.
I have seen seen Georgina Campbell in things like His Dark Materials, Broadchurch and King Arthur: Legend Of The Sword (2017), but I do not recall anything about her. I like Bill Skarsgård a lot. Loved him in the It franchise, and he was also good in The Devil All The Time (2020) which was underrated at the time. He is going to be in the new John Wick movie and the planned The Crow remake. Justin Long is in this movie. He is in the trailer for half a second. I think his character is being held down in the basement before Skarsgård or Georgina enter the home.
This is the first full-scale more movie for director Zach Cregger. He has a chance to make a splash with me. Barbarian reminds me of Sinister (2012); it has a chance to take a hold of you. Also, Barbarian seems very similar in tone to The Black Phone (2022), which came out in theaters literally today (June 24th).
August 12, 2022 is when we can all get Barbaric with Barbarian coming to theaters.
