Leonard Bernstein (Bradley Cooper) is one of most famous composers and musicians to ever live, and Maestro tells the story of Leonard through the lens of his marriage to actress Felicia Montealegre Cohn Bernstein (Carey Mulligan).
May December has an outstanding premise for a movie, but a solid idea doesn’t necessarily mean a solid final product. The movie still needs a director to lead the crew along the right roads and actors to supply the necessary horsepower to reach the final destination. Thankfully for audiences who love uneasy dramas with compelling characters, May December comes through with all the necessary ingredients.
This No Escape is very different from Ray Liotta’s 1994 No Escape. One is family friendly, and one is not.
I asked for this. I volunteered to watch New Moon (2009). I may have been under the influence of something, but I can’t blame this 130-minute experience on anyone else but me.
A small group of people must survive a harrowing experience in a unique environment while slowly learning that someone or something can’t be trusted. It becomes a fight for survival and the characters are pushed to limits they didn’t know they could emotionally or physically cross.
Thor: Love And Thunder (2022) is Thor: Ragnarok (2017) cranked up to eleven. The director and cast are back with another adventure tinged with plenty of attempted comedy. Love And Thunder tries to amplify everything by bringing romance into the picture. Whether all the various bits, skits or decisions made work for you, well that’s what is up for subjective debate.

Midnight Run (1988) is a combination of Planes, Trains And Automobiles (1987) and The Nice Guys (2016). That should be enough to entice you to check it out.
I never would have thought that I would be tearing up on the train watching a young man desperately pleading with his girlfriend while bleeding out on the floor of a dusty dorm apartment. I never would have thought this character uttering “eat me” would force me to cuddle up in a ball and hide my tear ducts.
The perfect plane movie. Possibly the best plane movie experience I have ever had. The Blackening (2023) is a horror comedy (released in June for some reason) that takes every single horror movie trope about black culture and characters and skewers the expected with laugh-out-loud satirical and oh shit sass-oozing wit.
The Super Mario Bros. Movie (2023) is meant for kids. Let’s get that out of the way right off the bat. If you think I am going to dissect an animated movie that was meant to make little kids scream and empty parents’ wallets, then you have another thing coming.

Do you love action? Do you love over-the-top violence? Do you hate Nazis?
May I introduce you to a little movie called Sisu (2023).
Switchback (1997) is a classic cat & mouse game with an aloof cop and a rambunctiously charismatic killer. The shocking part of the story is who plays what part.
