Today Is The Day. Draft Day. The REEEEEEM Fantasy Football League Is Back

Fantasy Football. The time has come.
Fantasy Football. The time has come. The draft is this evening, scheduled for 8:15 PM sharp. When the clock chimes and the ESPN musical jingle blares out its first bong, the 2024-25 season officially begins.
The 2023-24 season saw seven teams competing for the four playoff spots, but the quartet of programs with winning records ultimately made it to the postseason. Ronan came out on top, and now we have an adorable picture of Finn hoisting the trophy, which we will look back at fondly forever.
Why do we like this game? Who the fuck knows. People agonize over things they can not control. Plenty of things can happen. Injuries, surprises, busts, trades, and stupidity—all are part of this stupid game. This stupid game which can have but one person to constantly blame…the crooked commissioner.
I suppose I didn’t have the best start, assuming the league’s members could be held accountable to the draft lottery rules. But hand up, I’ve got to be better. The commish is currently trying to learn how to balance many different things in his life, and fantasy football is now one of them. The Commish is also stressing about how last season he had the fewest points scored last season and the second most points against. Can’t be continuing with that bad luck.
With the championship last season, Ronan joins Buzzi, T-Si, and myself as the only two-time winners of the RJR Memorial Trophy. The questions remain: Will this be the year Jimmy gets his time to bask atop the mountaintop or will McGinnity use his elderly wisdom and climb his way into the record books?
Tommy has not won since 2017-18, and Buzzi since 2019-20. It’s been ten years for Ritz, with his one title coming back in 2014-15. He won it two years after Steve won his first and only back in 2012-13. Fate may be on Ritz’s side because superstitions about new dads in sports usually lead to significant performances. For Steve, perhaps he isn’t a new father, but a new homeowner has to mean something, right?
Tonight is the draft. Tonight it all begins. Tonight is where our first step to fantasy football supremacy is made. Some say you can’t win your fantasy football league with your draft, but you can definitely lose it.
Regardless of your strategy or temperament heading into tonight’s proceedings, I (your humble crooked commissioner) wish everyone the best of luck this season. And the best of health. May your teams not have IR-riddled rosters, and shall your points be plentiful among your starters and your bench. Shall your point differential be green, and your late Monday Night emotions be of joy. This is what we all want, and this is what we all deserve.
To the 2024-25 Back At The Reeeeeem Fantasy Football season.

There is a lot happening in Mission: Impossible – Dead Reckoning. One could argue that there is too much going on.
Much maligned as the worst of the Mission: Impossible franchise, Mission: Impossible II doesn’t do itself any favors upon rewatch.
