PREAMBLE

The regular season has come to a close. The playoffs are set with four teams definitely earning their place, and two thanking their lucky stars they made it thus far.

Bove won the regular season title with ease and then added onto his legacy with a dominant final week. Gabe eliminated any hope for Michaud with a win, granted with a less than stellar offensive performance. Eric retains the three seed despite losing to me in the regular season finale, and we will again face off in the quarterfinals for the second straight week and third time this season. Brick beat out Brick in week 14 and now looks for a three-game sweep over Vaghi and the fifth-seeded team locked in his place thanks to Billyโ€™s team taking an early offseason vacation.

So this is the final long recap of the season. From here on out I will be writing about only the matchups that matter. AKA, the postseason. For many, the clicks may stop, but before you do, please let me know if you liked this and if you felt it was worth it. Any advice or feedback, please feel free to let me know. Am I too much of a dick? Am I too analytical? Is it too much?

Enough filibustering.

Let’s get going.

WEEK 14 SCOREBOARD

  • Lamar Jackson was my highest scorer on my team, but Cooper Kupp is my MVP this week. 25.5 points is Kuppโ€™s second best performance of the season, and best since week six. Over the last two weeks he has managed double-digit points just as the Los Angeles Rams have been coming on as a team. I am very worried about Dโ€™Andre Swift having scored single digit each of the last three weeks.
    • At the end of this regular season, somehow Eric and I ended up with the same record. Donโ€™t know how. This week, Eric was let down by Mike Evans who scored just 1.8 points; only his second single digit point game of the season. Josh Allen, Alvin Kamara, Chuba Hubbard, Evans, Adam Thielen, Travis Kelce, and Tee Higgins all scored below their projected point value. For those counting, thatโ€™s only the defense and kicker who performed lights out.
  • Greg Brick must have had an outrageous erection when he saw what Ezekiel Elliot was doing on Thursday night. A flashback to a time when he was one of the best running backs in football on his team. Brick has to be happy with the win, however he also has to be extremely worried about the health of Tyreek Hill. He came back against the Titans, but was it worth it for potential injury? Just really bad timing with the fantasy playoffs coming up.
    • Jack was almost able to pull off a major upset in the final week, but poor performances from his running backs doomed him. He risked it by putting Aaron Jones in his lineup, so when he was ruled out on Monday, there were no other options. Zack Moss has turned into a pumpkin since Jonathan Taylor went down too. Deebo Samuel was the highest scorer of the week for anyone, but still not enough to give him a victory in the final week.
  • Timmy needed help in order to get into the playoffs, and unfortunately none of it came.He got the win he needed, by myself winning knocked him out of the playoff picture. Joshua Dobbs didnโ€™t do him any favors, however, James Cook picked up the slack against the Kansas City Chiefs with a season-best 25.1 points. CeeDee Lamb and Keenan Allen have been his two staunch performers this year, and while Lamb will keep on ticking, Allen may struggle a bit without Justin Herbert.
    • Michael Kenney, a tough season comes to a close. Tua Tagovailoa turned into spoiled meat without Hill for the majority of the Monday night. Stefon Diggs had his third single-digit scoring game over his last four contests. Sure, Derrick Henry managed to do his thing against the Dolphins with 18.1 points, but it wasnโ€™t close to being enough.
  • Bove put on a show here in the final week of the regular season. A week-best 165.42 points catapulted by 23.0+ points from Raheem Mostart, DeAndre Hopkins and Breece Hall. Hopkins has loved it since Will Levis has taken over at QB; three of his last four games have 15 points or more. What a call to not play Justin Herbert too, granted Purdy has been making it easy, but with Herbetโ€™s injury it made a lot of sense.
    • Hunt, I donโ€™t think you are in the mood for words, so I wonโ€™t type many. Hurts banged you. Taysom Hill was out with an injury, and somehow Chase scored just 5.9 points in a game where the Bengals had 34 points as a team.
  • Not Matthew Vaghiโ€™s greatest performance, but enough is enough. Vaghi is in the postseason, by hook or by crook. The running prowess of Justin Fields, Saquon Barkley and Jerome Ford combined for 61.02 points. Amon-Ra St. Brown struggled with just 5.1 points; it is by far his lowest point total of the season. How will things line up for Vaghi in the postseason? He has Goedert back, and in his rust-buster effort he netted 7.0 points.
    • After last weeks high, Billy ended the regular season unfortunately on a bit of a whimper. Joe Mixon scored 21.5 points, and DK Metcalf had 13.1 pointsโ€ฆand those are the only players to score double figures. Four of his players failed to score more than five points; Dameon Pierce, Nico Collins, Justin Jefferson and Jake Moody.
  • Michaud needed a win to keep his postseason hopes alive, but that win did not come. Patrick Mahomes and his whining demeanor did not perform well for the second straight week. Austin Ekeler had 21.0 points, his first 20+ game since week 10. Weirdly Brandon McManusย  underperformed with 3.0 points. Isaiah Likely stepped up to the challenge with 19.3 points, but it wasnโ€™t enough.
    • Gabe didnโ€™t have his greatest game, but it was good enough. DJ Moore and the newly reinvigorated Chicago Bears took down the Lions he put forth 26.8 points. Christian McCaffrey did his thing with 17.3 points, but the biggest surprise is Rashee Rice actually scoring 18.2 points. How about โ€˜dem apples? Mahomes struggles, Rice runs, and โ€˜dem the brakes.

  • No. 5 Monkey Boys vs. No. 4 Derby Dumpster Fires
    • Greg Brick opened the season with a win against Vaghi, and Brick did it once again in week 12.
      • In a low scoring week one, Brick earned a 113.42 to 90.43 victory.
        • Brick started off the season with 1-0 with the aid of Tyreek Hill scoring 45.5 points. That’s a lot of points.
      • This was just a beautiful week from Brick, a full team performance gave him a 126.44 to 110.94 win.
        • Brick got less than seven points from Dak Prescott in week one. This matchup he got 32.24 points. Not too shabby.

  • No. 6 Look What You Made Me Koo vs. No. 3 The Football Team
    • Somehow, someway, I swept the season series against Eric Sieracki.
      • In week three, I took a close one against Eric, 106.48 to 105.72.
        • Eric and I had four running backs that scored less than double-digit points. I was buoyed by Lamar Jackson scoring 29.18 points.
      • In the last week of the regular season, I stole the show from Eric 139.34 to 115.32
        • Lamar Jackson again carried me against Eric once again with 31.64 points. Mike Evans putting up just 1.8 points in a game when the Bucs scored 29 points is the most surprising.

STANDINGS

  • Lots of movement from the initial projections at the start of the season compared to now.
    • List dropped 10 spots from second ranked after the draft to last place at the end of the regular season.
  • Everyone else who fell in the projections fells quite a bit; and the only one who still managed to make the playoffs was myself.
    • Five of the six playoff teams were not projected to be part of the playoffs at the start of the season.
  • The biggest movers in the upward direction are Bove and Vaghi who each improved seven spots. Brick also jumped up six spots.
  • Bove finishes the season as the league’s top scorer, scoring just 3.38 better than Gabe.
    • The top scoring team to not make the playoffs was Huntley who finished the season with the sixth best point total.
  • Kenney was the lowest scoring team of the season, scoring 7.74 less than List. jack had a big last week so as to not where that crown of thrones.

PUBLIC RELATIONS

“Do I deserve to be in the playoffs? Probably not. With a blend of fortune and strategy, I find myself back in the postseason. I am the gnat that nobody wants to go up against. The un-popped popcorn kernel that can ruin your day. We will see what happens.”

Jonathan Stanko – Manager of Look What You Made Me Koo

“Live or die with Tyreek, we will see how much is left in the tank. Monkey Boys better practice up.”

Greg Brick – Manager of Derby Dumpster Fires

Timmy Drakeley – Manager of KC Rough Housers

“The team showed out when it wasn’t necessary. Hopefully they rest up and look this sharp for the playoffs.”

Timothy Bove – Manager of Participation Trophy

“Ready to finally get revenge on the Derby Dumpster squad for beating me twice in the regular season. Zeke blows, Dak blows, and Tyreek could not be playing. The wind of victory is blowing in the Monkey Boys direction this week. Expect to hear loud, angry groans from G Brick this weekend both from fantasy decimation and the Cowboys losing to the Bills.”
