PREAMBLE

Two weeks left in the regular season. Only two weeks. I think, but by the letter of the law, nobody is eliminated from playoff contention yet. We do have Steve Kutlzow and Matthew McGinnity locked in, which means only two spots are up for grabs.

The first game of week 11 wreaked havoc on multiple teams in our league. Joe Burrow went down for the season, which means that Jimmy Simon is in need of yet another miracle to keep whatever last gasps of his season alive. Steve lost Mark Andrews for the year, so Evan Engram is about to get an upgrade to the starting lineup. Justin Jefferson is still not back, and Deโ€™Von Achane went down with yet another knee injury. Is Cooper Kupp okay? These are all questions that various team managers will have to grapple with.

Two weeks left. Two weeks till my recaps become a little bit shorter. Two weeks more till I can make fun hypothetical blogs about who got most fucked this season.

But till then. Letโ€™s see how things are going after 11 weeks.

Let’s get going.

WEEK 11 SCOREBOARD

  • Calvin Ridley has had five weeks with single digit points this year, but I want to thank the man for breaking out of his shell against Houston with a season-high 27.6 points. Sam Howell is fun to watch, even if the Commanders and Giants game was really ugly to watch. Jahmyr Gibbs is an electric factory, so much so that Pikachu would be jealous. I have fun players on my team, and they are having fun to end the season.
    • McLaughlinโ€™s chances at a repeat championship took a major hit this week. The gamble to play Deโ€™Von Achane off injury did not bode well with him scoring just one point. Patrick Mahomes came nowhere close to a Monday night miracle and Jaโ€™Marr Chaseโ€™s impact surely is hurt production wise with Joe Burrow gone. McLaughlin, get that trophy ready for shipping.
  • Matthew Buzzi got back on the winning track with a 130.1 to 122.48 win over Lobo. It is kinda hard to believe that Buzzi has the top-ranked quarterback (Josh Allen), wide receiver (Tyreek Hill), and defense (Dallas D/ST)…yet he still is on the outside of the playoffs. This week those three players combined for 71.1 points.
    • Trevor Lawrence was the top quarterback this week with 32.18 points, yet he still suffered the loss. Cooper Kupp scoring just 1.6 points due to injury plays a major part, for Lobo could have had the win and potentially the scoring team of the week. He finished with the third best score of the week but still a loss.
  • I look at the bottom of both Jimmy and Ritzโ€™s roster and I see the key to the game. The Commanders defense and kicking prowess of Tyler Bass led to 28 combined points for Jimmy. Ritzโ€™s duo of the Minnesota Vikings and Riley Patterson scored seven combined points. Such a discrepancy made up for Burrow getting hurt in the first half.
    • Ritz got 40.3 points from his AFC West wide receiver randem, but his third wide receiver is part of the Pittsburgh Steelers which is a terrible thing. Matt Canada is gone, as are the majority of Ritzโ€™s playoff hopes. He was preoccupied this week, so the bulletin board materials didnโ€™t get tacked up in the locker room.
  • The New York Giants stink, but Saquon Barkley is still good. A season-high 28.0 points alongside 23.96 points from Lamar Jackson got T-Si off to a great start. DJ Moore caught a gorgeous deep ball from Justin Fields to help his 19.1 points total. With no Aaron Jones for the foreseeable future, it would appear that Devin Singletary is going to get the call up.
    • Itโ€™s alright Steve, we all have these weeks. It is the first time this year that you have had the lowest score in a week, and now it has happened to almost everyone. Now you can look forward to Tim Boyle throwing passes to Garrett WIlson, and that will mean more than -0.1 fantasy points.
  • Matthew McGinnity is going with the truly bold strategy of just abandoning a position. Who needs a tight end? McGinnity has gotten NIL for the tight end position three times this season.ย  But he wins, so who cares? Looking at McGinnintyโ€™s team now however, he is going to have some difficulty filling in some big shoes. Kenneth Walker III may be down, Michael Thomas is on the IR, as is Dallas Goedert.
    • Ronan’s three QB roster strategy did not work against McGinnity. C.J. Stroud tossed three interceptions as the starter, and six points would have made a hell of a difference in a 115.0 – 109.44 decision. Austin Ekeler looked slow as hell against Green Bay, so is Jerome Ford going to be summoned now with a backup quarterback trying to lead them to the playoffs?

WEEK 11 ANALYTICS

  • No new season bests or worsts set this week in any matchup.
  • Steve had the lowest scoring week for the first time this season.
    • Only Buzzi and McLaughlin have not had this dubious note.
  • Each of the last two weeks Tommy has had the fewest bench points. Should be easier this week with no byes.
  • Jimmy had the best Points Compared To Projected For the first time this season.
    • Same goes for Lobo in Quarterback points. You should thank me for dropping Trevor Lawrence.
  • Buzzi was the top scorer of the week for the first time since week four. The only category he ranked below fourth in was kicker points.
  • Jimmy winning while having the fewest points for him QB and third fewest points from his RBs is impressive.
  • Steve had his second lowest RB output of the season this past week with just 11.2 points. The only one worse was 8.7 points in week three.
  • Lobo has only had a top three quarterback three times this season. Those are also the only times that he has had a top half quarterback output.
  • McGinnity was consistent. Sixth most Points Scored, Points On Bench, Full Team Points, and Points Compared To Projected.
  • The only category McLaughlin ranked in the top half off was Tight End Points where he ranked first.
  • Ritz has not had a top-half scoring output since week six.
  • Ronanโ€™s top bench scoring tendencies most likely stems from himself having three quarterbacks on his roster. I just put that together.
  • My running backs have had outstanding outputs the past four weeks, which is making up for lost time when I ranked nowhere near the top-half over the course of the first seven weeks.
  • Tommyโ€™s running backs scored best this week, marking the third time his rushers have led the league. It is the first time since week two, after he went back-to-back.

WEEK 12 MATCHUPS

  • Every game is a must win for me, and Steve is playing for the Reeeeeem Regular Season Championship. Both Steve and I have players going on Thursday, so this entire holiday break is going to be stress filled.
    • In the previous matchup between Steven and I earlier this season, Steve defeated me in a truly ugly and abhorrent fantasy football game, 84.08 – 83.36. It was week three. The top scorer for Steve in week threeโ€ฆwas Seattleโ€™s kicker Jason Myers.
  • There is a chance that both Ritz and Lobo are eliminated from the playoffs even if they win this contest, but the one true indisputable fact is that the loser of the matchup between these two 4-7 teams is packing their bags.
    • First matchup between the two teams this season.
  • McGinnity is in the playoffs, but his is praying that Kenneth Walker III is healthy in the long run. Obliques can be tricky. McLaughlin needs Achane to come back with a fury. McLaughlin needs to win to stay alive.
    • Matthew came away with a high-scoring 135.88 to 128.52 victory over McLaughlin in week four. Christian McCaffrey had 45.2 points this week. Just outrageous. McLaughlin lost despite Achone scoring 25.5 points and the Seattle Seahawks defense netting 29.0 points.
  • MASSIVE matchup here between Tommy and Buzzi. Tommy canโ€™t afford to lose this because Buzzi has a significant more amount of points that he does. Also Lamar Jackson is on a bye next week, so his main point scorer will be out in a possible deciding week 13 matchup if he canโ€™t win this week.
    • In week three, Thomas came away with a 119.88 to 113.92 victory over Buzzi. T-Si got 18.4 points from Sam LaPorta which buoyed him to a win. Buzzi had the Buffalo Bills defense on his bench, where they scored 31.0 points.
  • We gotta love Jimmy for continuing to fight. He can continue to play massive spoiler and keep himself alive with a win here, but Ronan wants to lock in his postseason berth. A win would I think get him in the tournament based on his point total and record.
    • Ronan won over Jimmy in week four, 117.6 to 108.7. This may have been the week of the Nico Collins breakout. He had 32.3 points for Ronan. This week Joe Burrow scored just 4.7 points for Jimmy and David Montgomery had 33.1 points on Jimmyโ€™s bench.

TEAMS ON A BYE: None…For Some Reason…I Guess Thanksgiving

    • Jimmy is now in ninth place, having won three straight.
  • Mike Ritz drops one spot to eighth. Tom McLaughlin fell from fifth place to seventh.

PUBLIC RELATIONS

“Somehow, someway, my team keeps on fighting. Need a lot of help to make a miraculous berth into the playoffs, but that still means we compete. Now a matchup with the current first place team, so we continue to fight on till the bitter end.”

Jonathan Stanko – Manager of Watson The Other Side Of The Door

“Frustrating season.”

Matthew Buzzi – Manager of Allen This Together

“Glad to see the guys take care of business and get a good win over Dirty Mike and the boys and get out of the standings basement Staving off playoff elimination and being able to rally around each other with Joe going down for the foreseeable future is what I’m most proud of. Another tough battle awaits us this week, but we remain confident in our approach, process and preparation.”

He also had some off the records comments…that were very slanted. Rude.

Jimmy Simon – Manager of Jakobi And Meyers Law Offices

“Great bounce back win for us. I’m proud of the guys. This team has battled all season. We have our biggest game of the year coming up this week with the winner more than likely to make it to the playoffs. Will be ready.”

Tommy Simon – Manager of Across The Pond With London

“I’m done sweating it out during Monday night games vs Ronan. Please put me down for not wanting to do that again. Also, who needs a TE, am I right?”

Matthew McGinnity – Manager of Run CMC

“I let Tommy win so he could make the playoffs so I can then beat him with Aaron Rodgers.”

Steve Kultzow – Manager of The Great Warren
