Back At The REEEEEEM Fantasy Football Week 4 Recap
PREAMBLE
This weekend was not a good pro football weekend for your commissioner. The New England Patriots are a bad football team and they got embarrassed in front of all of America as the main late afternoon slate. I shut off the game after Mac Jones threw his second across the field pass, this one going back for a pick six.
I am here to say that I am officially out on Mac Jones. 100% out. If he turns it around I will grovel at his feet, but his less than stellar play now for a year plus has ensured me that he is no longer worth putting faith in.
Also my fantasy football team sucks. That isnโt very good for morale either. I donโt often stink in fantasy football, but this may be the season. I am the only team to be averaging less than 100 points per game, and to be that bad in only a 10 team league is truly reprehensible.
Overall the league had its least competitive week of the season thus far. The average margin of victory was over 30 points. There were only two games that had a differential of less than 10 points, and only one of those games came down Monday night.
Now point totals may begin to fluctuate more as the season goes on because bye weeks are now suddenly a thing. The Cleveland Browns, Los Angeles Chargers, Seattle Seahawks and Tampa Bay Buccaneers are all on byes, which means that some key players are going to be missing. So begins the season of previewing your schedule and seeing how it matches up with your opponentโs bye situation.
One can say it is a long season and the playing field shifts with rosters in flux week-by-week, but I will admit that my white flag has been taken out of the chest and been laid out for ironing.
Also breaking news in terms of the league. Let the trades commence.
Let’s get it going.
WEEK 4 SCOREBOARD
The Buzzi train just keeps churning along. Sure he had a slight hiccup last week, but going up against the worst team in the league will surely be a spark plug for anyone looking for it. Josh Allen put up a monster 36.5 point effort, and the Dallas Cowboys defense feasted on the horrendous ineptitude of Mac Jones for their second monster scoring week of the season.
My team stinks. Is what it is. I am wheeling and dealing. Made a trade with McLaughlin to try and provide a spark. I have other offers out there. We are in the desperation stage. Happy to listen to all offers.
Steve, you can calm down about the Jets missed calls now. They happen to every team, every week. Water off your back. You have the Fantasy Football win, so that is all that really matters! Derrick Henry is warming up and Mark Andrews had by far his best week of the entire season. Steve got a huge win over Ritz with Jordan Addison scoring zip, zero, zilch points.
Ritz had the top quarterback for the first three weeks. Kirk Cousins did not reach that same level in week four. Disappointing outputs for Davante Adams and Keenan Allen didnโt help the birthday boyโs cause either. Ritz had a couple great weeks, so this let down perhaps was to be expected, but that doesnโt mean it’s enjoyable.
Tommy Simon, sometimes you donโt need your best work to win. Sometimes you just need to show up. It started out horrendously on Thursday night with Aaron Jones scoring just 1.9 points from the RB1 spot. Thankfully for T-Si, A.J. Brown went off against the Commanders for a wide receiver best 34.0 points. The Eagles touchdown hunter made up for the poor performances of Elijah Moore and the Pittsburgh Steelers defense.
Lobo, Iโve had this a couple times this year already. Just throw away the tape. Toss it out. Bad weeks all around except for Justin Jefferson. Luckily for Lobo, it appears like Jonathan Taylor has a chance to play this week for the Indianapolis Colts.
An absolute slugfest of a match here. Tough luck for McLaughlin. He scores the fourth most points this week, only to fall to McGinnity and his own fantastic effort. I donโt know if it is better or worse that the Seattle Seahawks made it so close on Monday night with 29 points. They say what the Cowboys defense did on Sunday and said โwe can do better.โ
Christian McCaffrey had more fantasy points in the first half than all but one running back this week. I am pretty sure this is true, I heard it on a podcast so I want to believe it. When a player scores 45.2 points, you should definitely win your matchup. McGinnity has never been the best team of the week, but he has an argument to be the most consistent team thus far.
Oh well look who woke up! Justin Fields! His perfect alarm clock was the Denver Broncos defense and lackluster secondary. Fields has been a disappointment for the majority of the season, but Ronan has to be loving his steal of a draft pick in Nico Collins. Nobody knew how good the Houston Texans would be, and nobody saw a Nico Collins breakout season coming. Ha has two games with 20+ points this season and is ranked seventh in the position.
Jimmy Simon is having a Cincinnati Bengals problem. Joe Burrow with three single-digit output games. Yikes. Now Tee Higgins is hobbled with his ribs being damaged? Yikes! And this week he had to watch David Montgomery stick up 33.1 points on his bench. It would have clearly swayed this week into his victory lane.
Buzzi led the league topping four statistical categories this week: Points Scored, Full Team Points, Points Compared To Projected & Quarterback Points.
Lobo led the league being the worst in five statistical categories this week: Points Scored, Full Team Points, Points Compared To Projected, Tight End Points, and Kicker Points.
Buzzi set a new league best in quarterback scoring with 36.50 points.
Kultzow set a new league best in tight end scoring with 22.5 points.
McGinnity set a new league best in highest scoring player/position with 45.2 points.
T-Si tied for the league worst in defensive/special teams scoring with -6.00 points.
Buzzi has ranked top four in running back and kicker points all four weeks thus far this season.
Jimmy has ranked bottom third in quarterback and running backs all four weeks thus far this season.
Lobo ranked in the bottom half in every statistical category in week four.
The only category he ranks in the upper half throughout the season thus far is running back points; he ranks 4.5 in the league.
McGinnity has ranked top four in scoring and points compared to projected in each of the four weeks this season.
Ritz is feast or famine in terms of points compared to projected: he has ranked first twice, or has been sitting in eighth or ninth.
This same week he has struggled, Ritz has ranked in the bottom third of wide receiver points. In the weeks where Ritz ranks atop the league in WR output, he outperformed his expectations the most.
I have not ranked outside of the bottom third over the past three weeks in all of the following categories: Points Scored, Points On Bench, Full Team Points, and Points Compared To Projected.
T-Si ranked first in the league in running back points the first two weeks. Since then he has ranked sixth and ninth.
In comparison, T-Si ranked tenth in wide receiver points the first two weeks but has improved to sixth and first over the last two weeks.

WEEK 5 MATCHUPS
Who is excited for a matchup featuring the two worst scoring teams in the league? *crickets*
I am here to say that team Watson On The Other Side Of The Door is in the middle of a managerial shift. We are trading. We will be shifting things up in our neck of the woods. Part of out of necessity with the five players on my roster (currently) on bye as of this moment. Meanwhile Lobo is 2-2 and still has time to turn it around but does he have any tricks up his sleeve?
Matthew McGinnityโs teams are averaging over 130 points per contest through four weeks, while T-Si is averaging below 110 points. It is a steep hill to climb, but T-Si may have a leg up because Justin Herbert (although hurt) and DK Metcalf are both on a bye. Means that McGinnity is going to need to dust off Tua Tagovalioa (oh boo-hoo) and whatever receiver he wants to plug in.
McGinnity is 3-1 this season despite having the most points against. Meanwhile T-Si has the second fewest points against. Will the hard path pay off for McGinnity with a win?
The curious thing about Steven Kultzowโs team is that he ranks dead last in terms of average highest scoring player, yet his team is 3-1. That would have to mean that Steveโs team is very balanced. That is always nice to hear. My question for Steve is whether or not he is worried that with Cooper Kupp coming back, is that going to eat too much into Puka Nacuaโs outstanding start?
Is Buzzi worried about the Buffalo Bills playing in London this week? Is that going to affect the superb play of Josh Allen and the legs of James Cook? There are no crazy start times currently in Steveโs starting lineup. He will have to go hunting for a new kicker on the waiver wire. Will he make it someone in primetime just to add some zest into life?
Tough week for both Ronan and Ritz in terms of bye week players.
Ronan is without starting caliber players Rachaad White, Chris Godwin and Jerome Ford. Ritz is without the Browns defense, Keenan Allen, Joshua Palmer and David Njoku. There are a lot of injuries on Ritzโs bench so he is going to have some balancing to do. More so than Ronan for sure.
I would say that Jimmy and Tom are both in desperate need of a win. I would say I am qualified to make this statement because I am currently the leader of our self help group.
I had the pleasure of doing business with McLaughlin this week so as I am writing this, he will soon have the option of replacing Mike Evans with Chris Olave. That means he will be relying on the Saints to outperform the Patriots, seeing how he also has Alvin Kamara. For Jimmy it is pretty simple. The Bengals better hope the Falcons are jet lagged from London so they themselves will be able to wake up.
TEAMS ON A BYE: Cleveland Browns, Los Angeles Chargers, Seattle Seahawks, Tampa Bay Buccaneers

Ritz drop down from first place to fourth following the loss.
Buzzi and McGinnity move up one place each.

McLaughlin and I stated in our despondent positions of eighth and tenth place.
PUBLIC RELATIONS
“I’m glad the jets didn’t get blown out. Gotta give Zach credit where it’s due. He was great. The refs screwed us”
Steve Kultzow – Manager Of The Great Warren
“Toughest Battle of Yorktown since 1781.”
Mike Ritz – Manager of Dirty Mike And The Boys
“Domination this week. We didn’t need to rely on the same guys to get it done, and we’re looking to keep our foot on the gas. Nice to see Josh flex his muscles out there.”
Matthew Buzzi – Manager of Allen This Together
“I’d like to thank Jimmy for keeping Montgomery on his bench. As his 10th round pick gets all the carries and my 3rd round pick stands on the sideline.”
Ronan McClorey – Manager of Now You CeeDee, Now You Don’t
“It’s always nice to beat a rival of mine and against someone on draft night who proclaimed their team as “stacked”. Based on his performance, it didn’t look “stacked” to me. We’re happy to be 2-2. Looking to hopefully continue the winning trend next week.”
Tommy Simon – Manager of Across The Pond With London
“You know last week we had a solid performance throughout most of the team. This week we relied on some of our heavy hitters. Obviously you’d prefer to have the whole team do well bit It’s good to know we have some guys who can step up big time when we need it.”
