Fantasy Football. The time has come. The draft is this evening, less than two hours away from my typing up this blog. Yes Steve, this is what I was doing at 5:50 PM before leaving the office today.

The 2022-23 season was one of the most competitive, but this season is a clean slate. Plenty of things can happen. Injuries, surprises, busts, trades, and stupidity. All are part of this stupid game.

Why do we like this game? Who the fuck knows. People agonize over things they can not control. After a necessary tantrum, everyone eventually sees one culprit through a skewed eye…the crooked commish.

But the ire should not be directed at me this season. It should be directed at our defending championship Tom McLaughlin, who took the entire league to the woodshed last season with his dominant display. He is the top dog. He is the hunted. I can picture that trophy freshly dusted everyday on his bed stand. Every night before he goes to sleep he pets it as if it was a pet he nurtures and feeds.

We should want to rip that joy from him.

Will this be the year that Steve Kutlzow gets his first championship win? (He noticed this too fast, damn) Will this be the year Jimmy gets his time to shine underneath the spotlight of glory? Will McGinnity use his double-dad strength and climb his way into the record books?

Time will only tell.

Perhaps Buzzi, T-Si, or myself will break away from the pack and be the first time three-time champion. A tall task, no doubt. Tommy has not won since 2017-18, and Buzzi since 2019-20. If I win, do I get to call myself a dynasty? No, no. Let’s not get too far ahead of ourselves.

Tonight is the draft. Tonight it all begins. Tonight is where our first step to fantasy football supremacy is made. Some say you can’t win your fantasy football league with your draft, but you can definitely lose it.

Regardless of your strategy or temperament heading into tonight’s proceedings, I (your humble crooked commissioner) wish everyone the best of luck this season. And the best of health. May your teams not have IR riddled rosters and shall your points be plentiful both among your starters and your bench. Shall your point differential be green, and your late Monday Night emotions be of elation. This is what we all want, and this is what we all deserve.

To the 2023-24 Back At The Reeeeeem Fantasy Football season.

Final 2022-23 Regular Season Standings Based On Record
Transparency was the theme last year. Seven teams still in the playoff picture heading into the last week. Clearly McLaughlin was the best team throughout the season, but Buzzi and Tommy put up good fights. Based off the differential, Jimmy is the one who got fucked the most…surely he won’t bring that to my attention.
Final 2022-23 Standings Based On “Points For”
The top four teams in scoring were the top four teams in the playoffs. That is the way it should be. Jimmy had the biggest difference in points for and actual standings; Jimmy should have finished in fifth place instead of seventh…and I should have been in seventh instead of fifth. No Jimmy, I do not have any vendettas against your.
Final 2022-23 Standings Based On “Points Against”
A true sign of dominance is taking everyone’s best punch and still knocking them out. That is not necessarily what Tom did last season, but still he had the most points so it has hard to gripe too much. Ronan get utterly fucked. Like absolutely rail-roaded in terms of luck. Just imagine what his record could have been. Three of the top four teams had the fewest points against. That tracks.
2022-23 Back At The Reeeeeem Fantasy Postseason
Nobody cares about the losers bracket. The playoffs played out like chalk, but damn Buzzi was a lot closer in the semifinals than I remember.
