Holy shit. It is happening. Of course it is happening. Taylor Swift, in the midst of what is sure to be the most profitable and legendary international tour ever, is putting out a concert movie for everyone to fawn over IN MOVIE THEATERS!
On Friday, October 13th, 2023, all Swifties will unite and sway their way into cineplexes for what is surely to be a sing-a-long event. Do I love that fact that my movie theater will be more of a concert hall instead of a traditional theater going experience? No, I don’t. But this is one of those instances where I have to appreciate that I am in the minority. Fucking embrace the karayoke enviroment.
The best part about this whole movie experience is that you don’t need to spend gobsmacks amount of money to see Taylor Swift teach a lesson about crowd manipulation. According to NPR, the average Swift concert goer spends nearly $1,300 to just get in the building! That doesn’t include travel, lodging, merchandise. Now you can see and sing-along with Taylor for a measly 20 dollars.
Did you know that Taylor Swift: The Eras Tour Concert Film (2023) forced a potential spooky month blockbuster to move its release date?? Jason Blum announced that The Exorcist: Believer (2023)is now going to release a week earlier on Friday, October 6. This is for a concert movie!
Look what you made me do.
The Exorcist: Believer moves to 10/6/23#TaylorWins
According to The Numbers box office website, the most profitable concert/performance movie to be released in theaters is Justin Bieber: Never Say Never (2011). The Canadian pop star’s movie made just short of 100 million dollars worldwide.
I am here to say that Taylor Swift: The Eras Tour Concert Film is going to make more domestically than Nevar Say Never did. Bieber raked in 73 million dollars domestically. I think Taylor Swift tops that. I have faith. When has Taylor Swift ever let us down?
While I would have loved to see footage from the rainy show in Gillette that my friends and I went to, it would appear that the movie takes the best moments from her three-night stint at SoFi Stadium in California. Can’t blame her for picking a venue with perfect weather and probably the most high-tech infrastructure.
Taylor Swift: The Eras Tour Concert Film is coming to AMC theaters across the U.S., Canada and Mexico starting October 13.
