The Real Reason For Sundays Fantasy Football Week 12 Recap
PREAMBLE
Two weeks left in the regular season, and four of the six playoff spots are still up for grabs. We are in for an exciting two weeks!
Gabe absolutely took me to the woodshed this week. He tallied the largest point total of the season and beat me by more than 80 points. Eric sentenced Jack to failure and Huntley kept himself alive and made the road tougher for Jimmy. Vaghi suffered a tough loss to Brick, and Bove dispatched of Billy with ease. The biggest result of the week was Michael Kenney taking down Michaud in a major upset.
This is the time of season where the teams set on the postseason are planning for proper matchups to have, and those fighting for the playoff spots are holding on for one week at a time. Injuries are going to play a major part as well. Jonathan Taylor was a big name this week.
I hope that everyone had a good Thanksgiving. I don’t have a lot for the preamble this week. I am just typing for the sake of typing.
Let’s get going.
WEEK 12 SCOREBOARD
Gabe, I mean my dude, you had the perfect week. C.J. Stroud goes for over 30 points, and right below him Christian McCaffrey had 31.9 points. Right there, those two players had nearly โ of my point total. The only player for Gabe that didnโt score double-figures was Justin Tuckerโฆand that is because he missed a field goal in the game.
Uh, I mean. What can I say? Cooper Kupp has turned into a pumpkin having not scored double-digit points in five straight games. Really, he had 27.8 points in week six. Since then he has 26.7 points. Gross, just gross. Jayden Reed is up and coming, but I need the new and the old if I want to win.
The matchup between Eric and Jack played very close to their projected total. For The Football Team, Josh Allen exploded for the best QB performance of the season, and MIke Evans overcame his butter fingers for 25.0 points. Quietly the Buccaneers wide receiver is top 10 this year, fantasy wise. Adam Thielen only scored 1.2 points, but it was not a scratch on Ericโs back.
Jack is happy to have Trevor Lawrence back to his high potential self, but the running back position did him in; both James Connor and Zack Moss scored below 10 points. The fact of the matter is that List didnโt have any other options with Aaron Jones being hurt on Thanksgiving.
The good Andrew Huntley showed up again. Jalen Hurts scored 34.5 points. Isiah Pacheco had 25.9 points, which was his best outing of the season. It was the first time he scored more than 15 points since week seven. Also Zay Flowers snagging a second unneeded touchdown at the end of the Sunday night game adds a nice buffer.
Timmy really must have ire against Flowers because it made his chance for a comeback all but nil. Keenan Allen was doing the best he could with 22.6 points, but it wasnโt enough. The gap was large heading into Mondayโฆand Joshua Dobbs did absolutely no favors with a terrible Monday night performance. Perhaps the shine is off the Cinderella story.
Greg Brick with the MASSIVE victory over Vaghi. This one may have sent the most dominoes falling for the next two weeks. Greg got 32.24 points from Dak on Thanksgiving. Vaghi did score 18.5 from Amon-Ra St. Brown on Thursdayโฆso that gap wasnโt that big. However, once Black Friday came and went, Greg knew he was in the driverโs seat. Tyreek Hill had 25.4 points against the New York Jets, and from there it was lead protection time.
A general rule of thumb this season is if your top scorer is a New England Patriot, then you are in big trouble. Sure, 21.7 points from Rhamondre Stevenson is good, but itโs not good enough to win. In that same game, Saquon Barkley scored just 6.2 points, which is a major step back from the 30 points he had against Washington in week 11.
Kyren Williams. How different would Kenneyโs season have been if Kyren Williams had been healthy this entire season. He has four games with 20+ points this season in just seven games played. He is still the 16th ranked RB this season despite missing five games. Kenney had to feel pretty good after Thursday when Christian Watson finally learned the season started and scored 20.4 points, the first time he has boomed this season.
Michaud, tough loss. Good win for Michael, but worse loss for Michaud. Austin Ekeler had just 9.4 points, making it two straight weeks with single-digit points. Dalton Schultz scored just 1.2 points and Brian Robinson Jr. didnโt reach double-digit points either.
The first place team continues to roll along. The emergence of Michael Pittman Jr. has been a major surge to the Participation Trophyโs potential. And Tank Dell continues to be a bonker young talent for the Texans. He has had four straight weeks with 17+ points. Bijan Robinson came up huge with 27.3 points. Just his third 20+ point game of the season and his first since week two.
Listen, Billy. The Packers won on Thanksgiving, so that is a positive right? Unfortunately, that is the only victory you came away with this weekend. The Falcons let you down with Tyler Allgeier and Kyle Pitts combining for just 12.6 points. And can we talk about the disappointing season DK Metcalf has had?
Week 12 was the highest scoring week of the season thus far with an average score of 128.12 points. The next closest was 120.95 in week three.
Gabe had himself a week.
Set the new points record this week with 181.76 points. He beat me, and my own record.
Set a new mark for best point total compared to projected. He surpassed expectations by 59.36 points.
Gabe has led the league in scoring two weeks in a row and has had the best points compared to projected three weeks in a row.
Gabe has had the best performance compared to projected points for three weeks in a row.
Eric set a new best for quarterback points with Josh Allen tallying 39.66 points.
Huntley is the only player to have never had the highest scoring kicker of the week.
Billy has only one week this season with a top-half running back performance. He has three, including this last one with the fewest running back points.
Brick has had top-half point production from his bench every week since week five. He has had top-half full team point production every week since week four.
Eric has only had two weeks this year where his full team point total ranked bottom half. He has also had top five rostered points scored since week five.
Kenney snaps his two week streak of having the fewest points by tallying the fifth most this week. It is the first time he has had a top-half scoring since week four.
I have ranked 11th in full team points for three weeks in a row now. I also have five weeks ranked 11th or 12th in rostered points.
Vaghi had ranked second in wide receiver points each of the last two weeks, but this week he ranked last.

WEEK 13 MATCHUPS
Big matchup between Vaghi and I this week. We are next to each other in the standings, and if Vaghi wins then he will leapfrog me in the tiebreaker because he has far more points than me. I donโt love having Lamar Jackson on a bye, so we write with Gardner Minshew and hope for some Minshew Mania.
Vaghi and I last matched up in week two and Vaghi came away with a close 125.44 to 121.68 victory.
Jack has nothing to play for except ruining Timmyโs season and ensuring that he doesnโt make the playoffs. It is a must win week for Timmy, but he will have three starters from last week on a bye. Jack meanwhile is without Davante Adams and Dalton Kincaid, but maybe the pride of his bench can pull off a major upset.
Timmy and Jack last saw each other in week two and Timmy came away with a 139.26 to 105.34 victory.
I love this matchup. Greg has been on a tear, led by Dak Prescott at the quarterback position. Would you believe that he is the third best fantasy quarterback this season? Can Brick expect another 25+ point week from Dak, like he has had four of the last five weeks? Eric is going into this week limping with Josh Allen and Jonathan Taylor. Perhaps the stack of Baker Mayfield and Mike Evans will supply a surprise present against Carolina.
In week two, Eric came forth with a 138.16 to 107.7 win against Brick.
Kenney played a massive spoiler last week against Michaud. Can he do the same against Huntley this week? We have a great quarterback matchup between Tua and Jalen. Both teams have start-up running backs in Williams and Warren. There is going to be a lot riding on the Miami vs. Washington game; there are four players in that game, three of which on Kenneyโs team.
In week two, Huntley had a 40 point win over Kenney, 120.42 to 79.88.
Bove wants to retain the top spot in the league, and Michaud is looking to bounce back after a tough loss last week. Neither team has major bye issues to work with, so it is a matter of players showing up. It will be close projection wise. No doubt.
In week two, Bove earned his second win of the season with a 141.5 to 101.8 decision against Michaud.
Gabe seemed to get all of his points out on me last week. This week he is without Josh Jacobs, DJ Moore, T.J. Hockenson and Justin Tucker. Billy is not playing for a playoff spot, but if he wins this week, there are circumstances where Bove knows for sure he has the top seed and Eric could overtake Gabe for the bye.
It was a close matchup in week two. Gabe took down Billy, 117.7 to 111.64.
TEAMS ON A BYE: Baltimore Ravens, Buffalo Bills, Chicago Bears, Las Vegas Raiders, Minnesota Vikings, New York Giants
STANDINGS
Bove and Gabe have officially clinched their spots in the postseason. They will be battling it out for the top seed over the final two weeks of the regular season. I suppose Eric is in that battle as well, but he needs to sweep and needs Bove and Gabe to lose both matchups.
Michael Kenney and Jack List have been eliminated from the postseason. They are officially in the spoiler zone.
WIth two games left in the regular season, there are three teams tied at 6-6, and there are two teams still in contention at 5-7.
Huntley and Timmy both need a lot of help, but if it comes down to any tie breaking scenarios, both are in pretty decent shape. Especially Huntley, seeing how he has the fourth most points in the league.
I am precariously in the fourth spot, but if I lose and fall into tiebreaker battles with the rest of the league, I am in trouble seeing how I have more then 100 points less than Brick who is currently in sixth place.
Brick was in eighth place last week, but moves up to sixth place with the win this week. He ousted Michaud, who now sits in seventh place.
