Alright. Because there is nothing else going on, (and yes, I do like the wrestling), I am just going to run through my predications for Wrestlemania 36. It literally is the only sports/entertainment thing happening right now, and everyone should be curious to see how the WWE produces this two-night (with no fans) extravaganza.
Women’s Tag Team Championship: The Kabuki Warriors vs. Alexa Bliss & Nikki Cross
I will be going with Alexa Bliss & Nikki Cross only because The Kabuki Warriors have held the titles for a while and it’s time for a switch it. I love Alexa Bliss and Nikki Cross a lovable brand of psychotic. Let’s have a switch up, why not?
PICK: Alexa Bliss & Nikki Cross
Otis vs. Dolph Ziggler
If this match was happening in front of fans, I would be going with Otis. BUT, with no fans…I think the heels take this one. Mandy Rose is going to do something terrible to break Otis’ heart (again), maybe allowing this to carry on to Summer Slam when the face can get over. That’s if things are normal by Sunday, August 23, which is no guarantee at all.
PICK: Dolph Ziggler
Aleister Black vs. Bobby Lashley
Aleister Black. Please. Thank You. Moving On.
PICK: Aleister Black
Elias vs. King Corbin
Hmmm…not a lot going on here to be excited about. Have to assume that Wrestlemania host Rob Gronkowski is going to get involved and help Elias win. Elias winning a “big” match…say what??
Raw Tag Team Championship: The Street Profits vs. Angel Garza & Austin Theory
This one is simple. If Andrade was wrestling, then it’d be very difficult to call. But instead Austin Theory is in there due to Andrade being hurt; vis-a-vie, The Street Profits will remain the holders of the Raw Tag Team Championship.
PICK: The Street Profits
SmackDown Tag Team Championship (Ladder Match): The Miz & John Morrison vs. The New Day vs. The Usos
Is The Miz competing? Do we know? My hot take is, I don’t think it matters.
I think The Usos are coming out with the titles because it’ll be their seventh reign as Tag Team Champions…tying them with The New day…and setting up a marvelous Summer Slam match. The storylines write themselves.
PICK: The Usos
Intercontinental Championship: Sami Zayn vs. Daniel Bryan
This match has the best chance to steal the show. Two legit wonderful personalities and wrestlers.
I have an incredibly tough time picking this match because I can be convinced that either victor is the right decision.
I THINK that Sam Zayn is going to pull through in this one and retain his title…but it’s a coin flip. Just please do not let it be by nefarious means. Let it be clean.
PICK: Sami Zayn
Kevin Owens vs. Seth Rollins
Let Kevin Owens eat. Let him emerge victorious. Still think he is one of the most under appreciated wrestlers in the WWE. This one is with my heart.
PICK: Kevin Owens
SmackDown Women’s Championship: Bayley vs. Sasha Banks vs. Naomi vs. Lacey Evans vs. Tamina (Fatal 5-Way Elimination Match)
Bayley has the title now…she won’t have it at the end of the night. We don’t need to count Lacey or Tamina as contenders. And that is fine.
Sasha and Bayley have a strong enough bond (for better or for worse) that they DO NOT need a title in order to tell a story. That is why I am going Naomi. She also came back at the Royal Rumble and this would be a nice culmination of her road back.
NXT Women’s Championship: Rhea Ripley vs. Charlotte Flair
A second contender to steal the night. That’s first thought.
I think that with wrestling (live wrestling I should specify) going away for a bit after Wrestlemania, that the title is not going to change hands. I think it’s going to stay with Rhea Ripley in a barn burner.
This match should be enough to show the casual wrestling fans the NXT is on the level, if not better than RAW or Smackdown.
PICK: Rhea Ripley
Raw Women’s Championship: Becky Lynch vs. Shayna Baszler
God there are so many matches. Just going through the list. Still so many more to go.
Becky Lynch has had her run and it is time for it to end. Shayna Baszler is a nasty foe and she is a truly wonderful villain. Her heelish nature will emerge victorious and lead to a MASSIVE Wrestlemania 37 match with Ronda Rousey.
PICK: Shayna Baszler
Edge vs. Randy Orton (Last Man Standing Match)
HOT TAKE ALERT.
I do not think that Edge is going to win. With a crowd, it would be the Rated-R superstar…but they can sink him deeper for an even more massive comeback at Summerslam. Randy Orton is interesting for the first time in a while and let an RKO out of nowhere put a bit of a damper on the comeback only for it to remerge form the embers brighter and angrier than ever in August.
PICK: Randy Orton
The Undertaker vs. AJ Styles (Boneyard Match)
What the hell is a boneyard match?
The Undertaker is going to win and I have a deadly feeling this movie is going to suck.
PICK: The Undertaker
John Cena vs. “The Fiend” Bray Wyatt (Firefly Funhouse Match)
There is ZERO way John Cena should win the FIRST EVER firefly funhouse match.
Let “The Fiend” recapture some (all) of the magic it lost when Goldberg defeated him in Saudi Arabia.
PICK: “The Fiend” Bray Wyatt
Universal Championship: Goldberg vs. Braun Strowman
So Braun Strowman is replacing Roman Reigns who was MOST SURELY going to win.
I still think that Goldberg loses. I think Strowman is stepping into the spotlight and getting a huge chance to prove himself. Do we remember when he was the hottest baby face in the entire company? Do we remember that? Oh what a time…
Strowman is going to take this bruising match and get his first massive title and Wrestlemania moment.
PICK: Braun Strowman
WWE Championship: Brock Lesnar vs. Drew McIntyre
BECAUSE early in this predictions piece I had Edge losing, the crowd is going to need a major pick-me-up. This is that.
Drew McIntyre is going to get his Wrestlemania moment, all be it with zero fans in attendance. But this will allow fans something to look forward to when wrestling returns to normal following the Corona craze.
PICK: Drew Mcintyre
